- not one bit
He loves to engage .. even from the bottom of an ATi dogpile - he was not complaining about the goings on at ATF[really]
Yep I'm a scrapper
I don't care if iRoXoR is the biggest AMD fan on the planet. He can post and write articles all he wants. That's certainly not an issue. I just noticed how his argument with Rollo reminded me of many that I have seen on that other site. Besides he's the new guy, he should be given a hard time.
As for moderator intervention. I like to consider myself an adult (most of the time), so I don't need a mod to back me up/speak for me/defend me/etc. However at AT the moderation is carried out arbitrarily based on company preference. That may have to do with that fact that the main site clearly has a company preference (as illustrated by their benchmarks/articles/recommendations/etc.). That I certainly take issue with. Heck it would not bother me if it was just their front page, but to actively censor in their forums is unethical at best.
Either way I'm sure the mods are getting plenty of PMs from the usual suspects regarding my use of factual data in regards to marketshare. I'm sure the squeaky wheel will have to get a "smidgen" of grease again.
i missed this post until now
i am not surprised that Rollo and ir0x0r remind you of the other forums. They are both very intelligent and both craft well-written arguments that are persuasive. The also have viewpoints that are extremes from each other - and that rather polite interaction still contains tension, hidden meanings and messages that are fascinating for other posters to watch and interact with.
Neither expects to change the others mind. But they expect and give respect as they share views .. as mankind as done since we were apes around a fire sharing experiences - it was refined into discussion forums by the Greeks, adapting and changing for many cultures and over centuries. The Internet has expanded this interaction to everyone and we are about to elevate forums once again into an art form here at ABT. We will have the very first 21st century forum.
The other forums simply do not understand what we do. We are providing a SERVICE and our members and readers are our "customers" and cyber-friends. They needed to be treated properly - not as someone to choke with rules and abuse with banning for disagreeing with the site PoV, article writers or mods.
Now we do realize that there are *trolls* .. but we think the membership will simply learn to IGNORE the persistent and most irritating ones - they will finally be left to discuss only amongst themselves and the serious tech discussions can continue unhindered.
