Its a Phenom I though. Would rather a Propus core Athlon II over that, even without L3.

Still.......a quad core CPU for $60...who would have thought that we'd see that in 2010. I sure wasn't thinking we'd see that yet. WOW!!

Yes, but you will pay a minimum of $100 for any Athlon II X4 just think, $60 for a cheap-ass Quad core that will come fairly close to the Athlon X4 performance-wise Phenom I was not that horrible as you paint it; one could pair a $80 HD 5570 with it and have a decent rig that will handle light to moderate medium resolution gaming and double as a decent HTPC also.

What you save in purchase price you will pay out in power bills compared to Propus.
The only way I'd even consider it is if I had an old board capable of running the chip (most AM2 owners got screwed over with AM2+) and I had zero budget for anything else and didn't care about the increased power/heat.

Over a lifetime perhaps. Some boards will accept AM2+ and AM3 CPUs. Mine does, i believe. If i only had $60 budgeted for a CPU, there isn't better performer.

If you have an AM2 motherboard capable of running high-end Phenoms and above (Phenom II, Athlon II) then you are one of the lucky few. Most people with AM2 boards could not upgrade to Phenom (or later chips) and still keep their current board. This was a big reason why Intel cleaned house so thoroughly with Core2, taking a lot of people who would have otherwise bought AMD anyway. A lot of those same people are stilled pissed off enough with AMD over AM2/AM2+ that they still won't purchase AMD processors.
One of AMD's true genius moments -- NOT!, especially not after a significant portion of the exact same people got screwed over with the socket 939 - AM2 "transition".
