That's the promise, who knows if it will actually work?

I had the choice of taking the Asrock motherboard I have now, without PCI-e 3 support or waiting several days for stock of the same board but with PCI-e3 support built on, like yours. I chose to get take the non PCI-e one. I've been building computers way too long to take claims of future compatibility very seriously particularly when the part concerned has no control over said compatibility.

Probably .. but when? ,,, and i'd like it NOW :P

i bought my MB to review my Core i3-2105; it was the cheapest and most full-featured MB at the time that i could find. i'll probably sell it if i get a series 7 MB

Is that BioStar MB decent?

Z68 socket 1155 boards could support IVB? Or not?

YESSS!!! My mobo is the P8Z68-V/Gen3

Other than a few shaved watts at stock i dont think you will have much reason to upgrade. I dont expect much increase in CPU performance from SB to IB. I think you will be just fine if you already have a K series. IB is more focused on igp and power savings.

My only SB CPU is i3-2105 .. it's nice but i will be looking forward to running an IB Quad/series 7 as my flagship benching platform.
:good:

i will hear no more unfounded criticism of my i7-920 at 4.2GHz

I'd go for something better than Biostar myself.

Is it possible that only z68 gen 3 motherboards will support ivy bridge and 2nd generation z68 motherboards like mine get the shaft? Has there been anything out of intel on which mobo's will get support or is it up to the MB manufacturer?

No, all socket 1155 boards should be able to run Ivy Bridge, but the vast majority will not let you use PCI-e 3. Not really an issue at the moment IMO. In a year or two, it will be.
