i am just about done with the IPC benching. Also wrapping up the Noctua CPU cooler evaluation writing.

i am going to include CPU graphics gaming for the ECS follow-up MB review (which is almost done benching for also).

Basically, the benchmarks are going to be the same ones that i used in my Ivy Bridge introduction
http://alienbabeltech.com/main/?p=29402&all=1

i added PC Mark 7 benching suite and a couple more disk tests.
---anything *else* you want me to test in comparing i7-3770K vs. i7-920 at 4.2GHz?

Use oblivion's Construction Set to generate distant landscape LOD. It will use every core of a CPU while doing it.

Maybe use the Cryengine SDK or Unreal engine SDK to compile one of the free user made games based on them.

How about something *easy* ?

i am nearly done with my IPC benching; i will finish tonight. The Noctua NH-DH14 evaluation is nearly written and the ECS MB evaluation only needs the 3770K CPU graphics benches run. And i need to get pics of it with a watercooler installed instead of the Noctua cooler - it is a really nice-looking MB when it isn't completely covered by a CPU cooler

And the Thermaltake Overseer RX-I review is only holding on those same photos with the watercooler (i want to install it but cover it in a later evaluation).
--i got most of my "other than ABT stuff" mostly done over the past week or so and i'm back to work!
:hello:

The Oblivion LOD generation is easy if you have it and the CS installed. I suggested it and the SDK compiles because they are real world tasks, that relate to gaming and some PC gaming enthusiasts may do them.

i don't have Oblivion installed any longer. i'm benching off 240GB SSDs now and there is no room for it. It is a good suggestion. i'll try to include it next time as i expand my MB benching suite

This is the first time that my benching is way the heck ahead of the writing,

The Noctua Cooler eval is nearly done. The Overseer tower is finished. So is the benching for the IPC evaluation as well as for the ECS MB

Does anyone want any spoilers or are you content to wait for the published articles?
How do you think i7-920 did against i7-3770K when both are clocked at 4.2GHz?

i should begin benching the EVGA MB tomorrow and the benching should go much more quickly
---- driver performance evaluations to follow soon too .. i'm playing 'catch up' :P

It should be 15-20% faster.
