That's good news. We need AMD to come roaring back to give us proper competition at the high end.

My prediction FWIW though is that nVidia is going to take over with their Tegra CPUs. The Tegra 6 in particular is going to be a beast.

How does AMD come "roaring back" with diminishing R&D budgets and smaller engineering teams, year after year?

i think Intel had to satisfy it's partners that make MBs.

Nvidia is not looking to compete on the desktop with their own CPU; they are going for the big market Intel is going for >>>

Tegra's aren't socketed either............

and, the death of x86 has been spruiked for decades now, usually at least twice a year. Guess what, it hasn't yet and Tegra won't cause it to happen either (nor will any other ARM chip).
