Rain comes down like a waterfall in Japan -28 dead

Most of the quarter-million people who fled massive flooding in southwest Japan were able to return home by Monday, but the danger had not fully passed from record rains that have killed at least 28 people.

Thousands of homes and hundreds of roads were damaged, and hundreds of landslides were reported. The military airlifted food by helicopter to stranded districts.

The rain "was like a waterfall," Yoko Yoshika said in Yamaguchi prefecture (state). "It was horrible."

"Our region gets hit with heavy rain every year, but I have never experienced anything like this," city employee Kumi Takesue said.

The intense rain occurred as far north as the ancient capital of Kyoto, where rainfall exceeded 90 millimeters (3.5 inches) per hour — a condition in which rain cascades in such torrents that seeing ahead becomes impossible.

The heaviest rain that i remember was in year 2000 in Hawaii

We got 12 inches of water overnight. i was on the freeway when all traffic came to a complete stop because you could not see 2 feet ahead of you. Fortunately, we were all able to proceed after 20 minutes - but then after awhile, there were no breaks in the rain. Lots of flooding. And that was probably only 2" per hour average over 6 or 7 hours.

Is it just me or are these storms getting worse and worse every year.

It's part of global warming. The storms will reach categories unheard of up-until-now.
-- that is until they finally punch through the upper atmosphere and trigger the reset - an ice age

However, extreme food shortages are up next. Maybe humans will be smart and will finally divert corn and grains from livestock to people
(doubt it)

or they could be smarter and use the animal manure they currently pump into sewage systems to turn arid near desert lands into areas where they can grow grain crops specifically for animal feed.

What?

Republicans insist there is no such thing as Global Warming so it has to be Global Cooling.
