I posted this because it really surprised me at how bad the propaganda is these days. It was pretty outrageous to me when i first heard of this. How could it be true? This article digs into the original claims. It was like a wow moment for me. We are consistently misled. you cannot believe much of anything these days.....

"Almost everyone believes that Obama has presided over a massive increase in federal spending, an ‘inferno’ of spending that threatens our jobs, our businesses and our children’s future. Even Democrats seem to think it’s true. But it didn’t happen. Although there was a big stimulus bill under Obama, federal spending is rising at the slowest pace since Dwight Eisenhower brought the Korean War to an end in the 1950s."

President Average percentage increase per year:
Carter 1977 1981 16.4%
Nixon 1969 1975 13.5
Johnson 1964 1969 11.0
George W. Bush 2001 2009 10.2
Reagan 1981 1989 8.6
Kennedy 1961 1964 7.1
George H.W. Bush 1989 1993 5.8
Clinton 1993 2001 4.0
Eisenhower 1953 1961 3.6
Obama 2009 2013 1.4

So, using raw dollars, Obama did oversee the lowest annual increases in spending of any president in 60 years.

Is anyone surprised? The Republicans and especially the Tea Party have been intensely rewriting history for some time now. Look at Palin and her pile of BS insanity. And of course, it is on both sides.

Anyone who thinks anything would be better under Romney is nuts. His is the party that bankrupted the USA under Bush.

Reality check! lol

When Bush the big spender left, the tab was 10.7 TRILLION

In under 4 years later the tab for the children and grandkids is NOW 16 TRILLION, that's 5.3 TRILLION increase in under 4 years. That's over a trillion plus fn dollars per year increase in the debt.

Spend and spend then inflate and inflate.

College kids are graduating! WTG!! Oh but no jobs....sigh

Those graduating kid's parents are deeply in debt and may also lose their jobs, but the grand parents are doing ok..... they were the first to the trough.

It's a sad day for America when the president distorts the truth (lies) and tries to con the citizens of this onetime great nation with some Harvard BS math. Bottom line 16 TRILLION DOLLARS and climbing that the future generations will have to pay. :banghead:

The Bush administration is the one who set up the continued deficit. They made it *impossible* to change the economics of the nation without continued spending at the same rate that THEY set. Obama has clearly dropped spending ON the government; but not BY the government. The poster above seems pretty clueless about that minor fact and is bamboozled by the Republican rhetoric and smoke and mirrors. They are the Rich boys that set up the system to benefit themselves and big business. It cannot be killed without getting ALL of them out of office
:)

Maher's bit is good. The Republicans are full of it and their charges against Obama are just stupidly ridiculous. Obama is not liberal or the liberals would have actually got something out of his administration.

Maher is right .. "the black man has the shortest"

What i just recently been enlightened to is in stark contrast to what we have been hearing. The message of obama spending has been pounded to death and its completely 100% false. You may be confused as the truth is something we havent been hearing much of.

Harvard math??? The 16 trillion debt as your bottom line......well it has nothing to do with spending sprees. I wondered where the mix up came from and found that the manipulation has nothing to do with bad math. The debt isnt from added spending at all as we have been told. Thats not even close to the truth. The real issue was the cut in revenue. The recession had a huge effect on the cash flowing into the government. Then matters were made worse by tax cuts which amounted to another huge loss of income. Its obvious who fought for these tax cuts.....

Its kinda like this. Say your income was 6000 a month and your living expenses were 4000. Then you lost most of your income it went to 1000 a month but your expenses were still 4000. You had plenty of credit and tried to hold off loosing everything as long as you could hoping one day you would get your old salary back. This is sort of what happened in the US. The money flow was critically cut from the recession and on top of that huge tax cuts also doubled the pain. Obama did not spend us into this debt, what he did do was try to keep the US afloat with hopes we could get past the recession and get back off life support. But even before then when most working class people were struggling, the rich were given lavish tax cuts unlike ever before. They are still in place today.

If the bush Tax cuts hadnt ever been put in place our debt would only be a fraction of what it is now. the recession has taken income from the government causing debt, but the tax cuts only multiplied the debt. But instead of telling the truth they are saying obama was spending a web to debt. This couldn't be further from truth. We couldve been on our way out of this mess yrs ago. But the same ppl who point the finger at obama fight, as if it was for their life, to keep these tax cuts in place. How can this be????

up until today i was under the impression obama spending was at least very high, i assumed even record high. It appears i was snowballed and a fool to have ever listened to any such propaganda. The evidence is pretty clear and substantial, obama has not increased spending much at all. His so called spending increase was many times less than most every single modern day president. and a lot lower than both the bushes.
