60 minutes confirms my findings from a long time ago.

60 Minutes - Oil/Gas Industry Raping of America

Oil has nothing to do with Supply and Demand and hasn't for many years now.

=================================================================================
I had a massive long thread on another site where they said oil and gas prices were 100% Supply & Demand. They caved a little when Speculators ran the price up to $147 but went right back to claiming Supply & Demand once the bottom dropped out. Of course now they can't explain the rise in gas prices while oil remains in the $40's.

In any case I can post in here without Republican whackos

1-9-09 Oil falls to $42 while gas prices still rising

Gas had fallen to as low as $1.40 and now close to $2 in most locations again.

Excuses excuses excuses

Have nothing to do with prices other than give reason for false manipulation.

What a scam that people buy.

1-9-2009 Oil slips towards $41 before jobs data

Oil prices slipped toward $41 a barrel Friday as economic gloom deepened ahead of data expected to show a big jump in U.S. unemployment.

Non-farm payrolls figures, due at 1330 GMT (8:30 a.m. EST), are likely to show more than half a million Americans lost their jobs in December, a Reuters poll showed, the highest monthly job losses in 34 years.

"Of course, we are getting used to negative economic news, but this U.S. jobs data is likely to be very, very bad," said Frank Schallenberger, head of commodity research at Landesbank in Stuttgart.

"Short-term, oil is held within a fairly narrow range between $40 and $45. I don't see $50 in the near future."

The market appeared to be largely ignoring evidence that oil producers were cutting output in an attempt to support prices.

Top crude exporter Saudi Arabia is the latest member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to show it is cutting output in line with a deal agreed in December.

It will deepen its supply cuts in February from January to at least three Asian crude buyers, industry sources said on Friday.

Earlier this week, Kuwait and Iran also told customers of bigger supply curbs this month, after the cartel agreed its biggest ever production cut in December in a bid to bolster prices.

While the Gaza conflict does not directly threaten oil supplies, Middle East unrest can bolster prices because countries in the region pump about a third of the world's oil.

The excuses are a plenty

1-9-2009 Crude falls below $40 for first time in 2009

Oil prices fell below $40 per barrel Friday for the first time this year as the government reported the nation's worst annual job losses since World War II.

People are traveling less, manufacturers are slashing production and there are job cuts across almost every sector of the economy, leading to a severe drop-off in energy use.

And in another bit of bad news, the average national retail price for a gasoline rose again overnight.

Gas now costs a dime more per gallon than it did just a month ago even as crude prices fall.

Oil prices at one point Tuesday reached $50.47, the highest price since Dec. 1, before the continuing raft of lousy economic news took hold.

But Peter Beutel of Cameron Hanover said in his Friday report that despite the bearish news, he is looking for prices to stabilize, helped by the government's stimulus packages, interest rate cuts in the other countries, low mortgage rates in the U.S., historically low refining rates in the U.S. and the start of refinery maintenance, and OPEC production cuts.

Despite the decline in crude, prices at the pump continued to inch up, climbing 2 cents overnight to $1.782 a gallon, according to auto club AAA, Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express. Prices now a dime higher than a month ago

1-11-2009 Price of gas up nearly 12 cents after long slide

The average national price of gasoline rose nearly 12 cents in the past three weeks, marking the first price hike after six months of steady decreases, according to a national survey released Sunday.

The average price of regular gasoline Friday was $1.78 a gallon, oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg said.

The increase was the first since July 11, when the average national price peaked at $4.11 a gallon.

Of cities surveyed, the nation's lowest price was $1.34 in Billings, Mont. The highest price was $2.32 in Anchorage, Alaska.

1-12-2009 Oil falls below $39

Oil prices fell Monday on concerns over global economic growth

"Given that we're likely to see quite a few rather poor fourth quarter earnings reports, downward pressure will continue to be exerted on oil," said Victor Shum, an energy analyst with consultancy Purvin & Gertz in Singapore. "Worries about the macroeconomic outlook will continue to constrain oil."

Prices of futures contracts for later this year suggest investors expect oil to recover. The March contract trades near $46 a barrel while the April contract trades above $49.

"The expectation is that pricing will regain strength, and it's not a question of if but when," Shum said

. . . and yet the price of gasoline - nationally - has been steadily increasing over the last 3 weeks :P

a penny a day would be $3.65 *MORE*, next year .. spread it out a little more and we see the artificial manipulation of the market.
- but it doesn't come a penny a day or a penny a week .. the trend is always UP .. no matter the demand
- forces see to it and the "excuses" are a plenty
