This looks interesting. i asked EVGA for one to evaluate. i wonder if it Tri-SLIs with a GTX 560 Ti Wow! Quick reply .. the EVGA rep is right on top of things .. unfortunately No (samples for us) ... and ... No (tri SLI)

LOL, strange coincidence after I just talked about EVGA not releasing it yet, in my Voodoopower thread. At 850MHz core clock, how would the power consumption be? I'm guessing NO LESS Than 350W... (remember, GTX 590's TDP is 365W).

I think the pricing given in the AT review is stupid myself. At more expensive than the GTX580 I wouldn't purchase this. Simply because I could purchase a GTX580 instead then SLI it and end up with way more performance than this (or two of these in quad-SLI) can hope to produce.

Well, EVGA would not bother to make it if it would be substantially cheaper than a GTX 580, since it's most likely much more expensive to produce (R&D, 2x the cherry-picked chips, 2x the memory, custom fabbing, custom heatsink, etc..) The same goes for HD 6870X2 from Powercolor which is $509 at Newegg.com (now $465 at 1stchoicememory.com).. which is like $100 more than buying two separate 6870's.
It would be great if it has 2GB of GDDR5 per chip, but nah, I doubt it..

The question is why would I as a consumer purchase it? Its more expensive than just SLI'ing two normal GTX 560 Ti's. The only reason would be that you don't have two PCI-e slots (not SLI certified isn't a reason because as Anands review says, it will only work in single GPU mode on such a motherboard).
And when you want even more graphics power you just slot another 580 in and as I said before blow the barn doors off of this.

How much are two GTX 580s compared to a GTX 560 Ti x2?
Now compare two GTX 580s to a GTX 590 ($750)
No X2 is a great value. They are specialty cards.

Yeah, but by getting a GTX 580 instead of this x2 card you can at least get better performance when you want to by purchasing another GTX 580.
So you spend less on a GTX 580 and get less performance compared to evga 560 x2 card but should be able to overclock to make a fair bit of that up (or just buy factory o/c and pay the same as the 560 x2) and you have a future option of even better performance (assuming you can use SLI, but if you can't use SLI the evga will only give you single GPU performance anyway).

grstanford wrote: if you can't use SLI the evga will only give you single GPU performance anyway). Huh? Isn't that the point of the card.. for the niche market who wants a really fast video card for their non-SLI motherboard? I mean, are you really sure that this X2 will only give single GPU performance on a non-SLI motherboard?!? Wasn't that the point of 7950GX2, HD 4870X2, etc... (back then when crossfire/SLI support were more rare on motherboards)? Sorry if I'm really behind in tech now, not having beaten any new games really since Dead Space 2!!!!
