Very nice evaluation lots of interesting results. The one that surprised me was how much of a difference overclocked RAM made in some of the games tested. Never thought memory speed made much of a difference in gaming.
Thank-you!
RAM was also a big surprise also to me. Before Bloomfield, overclocking the system RAM had less performance effect on gaming as i remember. And i am thinking back to Q9550 and E8600 and E4300.

Was there really no way you couldve made several articles that share some of the information? I mean its fine like it is but had you been able to separate some of this you couldve had multiple articles that could come out back to back and perhaps you would feel more accomplished. Its a lot of work but look how much you covered. You spent a lot of time on this huge undertaking and i for one am grateful. thanx for your work
Again, thank-you for your kind words. This project got way over-ambitious and it ended up encompassing an entire platform upgrade. i had way too much hardware on deck to review and everything i covered is completely related to each other.
Ideally, i could have written about 3 or 4 smaller articles. But then i would be still writing as there would be much duplication. And i would still be very far behind - much worse than i am now. i am making decisions that are not easy to make as a lot of my attention has been directed behind the scenes at ABT; helping create daily news and sharing links with our affiliated tech site, working on an upcoming regular ABT newsletter, expanding our social media contacts and working on a contest for next month. Also got Thermaltake as a sponsor - notice the new banner.
-- So - this compromise - this mega-evaluation is the most efficient way that i know how to cover everything that was covered ..... and as i said, hopefully never again like this.
i should be back on track now. After the Tt full tower evaluation (which i am writing now), expect the EVGA MB evaluation which builds on this one, a Watercooling vs Air CPU cooler shootout, and then probably a driver evaluation of Tahiti vs. Kepler since their respective launches and or product reviews (and i am still trying to get a 4GB GTX 670 and a GCN HD 7970)
