i don't get to bench it until i am done with the HD 7770; i made that promise to myself

I think that reply has cleared up the mystery though! Sometimes these mystery cards are accompanied by stacks of paper, did it come with any "white paper"?

what the magic about Barts is that allows it to perform better than Cayman specs-wise, even though it's still based on "old" VLIW5 architecture

Perhaps Barts is better optimized by AMD than Cayman since they had more practice with it. Cayman is newer and the architecture is pretty short-lived.

Hey, ya know, HD 7770 is rather bandwidth-limited, so adding even more core clock only exacerbates the bottlenecking factor of the memory. HD 7770 has over 50% more shader compute AND texturing power than HD 7750 which has the same bandwidth, yet it's only 28% faster overall.

And the memory can't go much higher. Sapphire found the sweet spot with this card - from 1000/1125 to 1200/1250MHz. It is a very narrow sweet spot

They don't have the cards because?! They didn't attend/weren't invited? They weren't given a card even though they attended? Nobody was given a card regardless of attendance?

Because they don't have a clue

It's fake; obviously made up. Nothing real to see. No indication of anything but imagination.
(it's also confirmed as fake by the XtremeSystems guy who also said that OBR didn't attend FWIW)

It's fake. And also, that 7970 would need to be heavily o/c'd to reach that 3dmark11 score. I believe it is under 3000 if stock? Somebody correct me if I'm mistaken.

From someone other than AMD I take it (I'd tell AMD to shove it where-ever it happens to fit best if it was them giving it to you this late with expectations you would review it).
