The nice thing about Heaven is that it's a canned benchmark that users can run for comparison purposes.

Then run 3DMark11. :P

Heaven is a ... nothing. A pretty over-tessellated tech demo. Where are the Unigine games? This nonsense came out before the GTX 480 and it made sense because there were so few games that featured tessellation.

i intend to add games to my benching suite. Not tech tech demos. Within the last month or so, i added Max Payne 3, the Secret World & Alan Wake: American Nightmare. Next Game (#24) should be Borderlands 2.

Yes but unless they have a built in benchmark it's hard for people to compare their systems to the ones in the reviews.

i just checked. AMD released WHQL 12-8 the day after the GTX 660 Ti came out
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/w ... sta64.aspx
-- i am guessing it is the same driver as 12-7beta that we used for the review
:P

Anyway, 12-8 is the latest Radeon driver and it will be the basis for the Sapphire 7750 LP review as well as for subsequent reviews.

Why did they come out the day *after* the GTX 660 Ti review>

And i am guessing that WHQL 12.8 is equal in performance to 12.7 beta
-- i guess i will find out .. i am *retesting* again

Well, they would have let the cat out of the bag, but they just *knew* that you needed the new drivers last week. :P

It's not costing me any more work. What i don't understand is WHY AMD didn't get the WHQLs out earlier IF there is any performance improvement over 12-7 Beta (which is why i am doubting any improvement)

And i'm cheating. i started out by benching the Sapphire 7770 GHz OC edition (1100/1300MHz) with Cat 12-7 Beta and i will identify it on the chart as such. Now that the 12-8s are out, i am benching the card again but this time, i am benching it at stock clocks (1000MHz/1125MHz) to compare directly with the stock 7750 which i haven't benched yet (i bench the 7770 to establish a 'baseline', so i don't waste time with bad results).
:)

So the reader of the evaluation gets more information. And i am able to see if there is driver improvement from going from 12.7 to 12.8 because i already know HD 7770 Scaling
