IF he wants AMD, then the logical thing to do is to wait for BD to be released with a proper MB

If he will consider Sandy Bridge, he needs to tell us

Aaahh well I had an AMD machine before and then the Intel build (first machine I built on my own) was recommended to me by Cheex (total stranger givine me advice on what was the best thing to spend my money on), I have no problem with Intel as I stated in my "first post" the one that you said your read Pop I was switching from Intel due to prices. Is it that the build done by Happy that the Intel build is that just superior to the Intel build or is it just that its superior? Fast & The Furious "doesnt matter if u win by a mile or an inch a win is a win" So is the Intel winning by the mile or is it winning by the inch because if its winning by the Inch then I don't think it justifies the price?

On another note I don't think I want to wait 2 months to build back my machine and I don't think it would make much sense because when BD is released its going to be a new item thus a new prices (which are usually high and its I think its usually wise to give these things times to work out any bugs) and then I would have to wait until the price goes down the only possible good is that it would push down the prices of some AMD prices before it if I choose the AMD path.

So what are you going to choose?

It doesn't matter to me. i won't predict the future as our happymedium does - i really don't know which platform will be faster - nor if there will be a practical difference between them.

Choose wisely

Yeah I will make a decesion but I was waiting for my questions above to be answered, when I asked how much does the Intel win by whether and inch or a mile I was referring to the Intel Sandy Bridge Build and the Hexcore build that Happy originally posted above.

Frankly if you end up going the AMD direction, I'd get the 980 over the 6 core, simply because over the useful lifetime of that CPU, the extra clock speed will benefit you more than two extra (slower) cores.

Sandy Bridge is faster. It depends on the app as to whether it is an inch or a mile.

i am playing Crysis 2 in 1080p DX11 maxed out with GTX 560 Ti SLI .. unfortunately 3D Vision sucks pretty bad. . . . anyway, i might be a little distracted. You might miss with that rifle - try the shotgun approach with your questions

i only got 4.3GHz with my 980BE. Doesn't the 1090T also OC pretty well? Or is the OP sticking with stock speeds?
:hello:

well, the quad is more likely to stay comfortably within a certain power/temp range than the 6 core, simply because it has less circuitry and no turbo mode to constantly engage/disengage. I don't think too many people see much above 4.3 ghz in everyday use, no matter what Phenom II they run, unless the cpu is permanently cooled with LN2. The good thing about the 980 is there is not much need to o/c from stock anyway, you are already getting close to where most end up anyway - 3.8/3.9

i thought the hex cores were getting 3.8-3.9GHz regularly. The 980BE seems to overclock especially well from 3.7GHz - the reviewers were getting 4.2-4.4GHz if i remember correctly. And still mostly they recommended the 1090T over the 980BE.

I'll try to answer your question simply OP.

If your not overclocking ( and if your not you should load that rifle :)) the 220$ 2500k is only on average 25% faster then the 190$ 1100t x6, if your overclocking (and these chips easily overclock to 4.5) then it is by a mile. Overclocking is easy and now-a days, todays cpu's are made to overclock especially the "K' series.

Like I said for 30$ more the 2500k is clearly the winner and when overclocked will crap on the x6 1100t.
