I don't often regret my hardware purchases but I've really struggled with my Panasonic GF3 camera. The reviews on it were quite good and I got a really good deal on it when I bought it. The problem with it is that it really struggles in low light. Apparently with a better lens it fixes the problem, however the lens I needed cost $350 and I wasn't willing to pay that much for a piece of glass.
I had close to $300 worth of Sony points saved up on my credit card so when I saw the NEX-5N come up for sale at $399 last week I couldn't resist. I'm going to sell the GF3.
So far I am blown away by this camera! In low light with no flash it's taking great pictures even with the crappy stock lens. What I really like is that the lenses are cheaper for this camera. There is not as much selection but they are cheaper. Honestly I don't even feel like I need one seeing as I'm so happy with the stock lens.
I'm blown away by the image quality of the photos that I've been taking. They are considerably better than the GF3 which was no slouch in good light. The videos are also amazing, even in low light. It shoots 1080p video at 60fps which I have never tried. After using it I really like it. I think it would be great for things like sports or small children that move really fast (like I have). The movement is really fluid. It's like gaming at 30fps vs 60fps. Much nicer and much smoother.
Anyhow, I think they sold out at Blacks where I got mine. Hopefully they will clear them out elsewhere soon. I can't recommend this camera enough at $399! It's a great buy!
