Here is a link to a site that features the sounds of hard drives from the past.

Freesound.org harddrive sounds

As soon as our news feed goes out to our affiliates, we can publish this review on the main page

It's live but I haven't been able to figure out how to add to it manually.

Everyone can add themselves for now.

Thank you guys - I could throw in a couple more benches that some review sites are just starting to use now..

And I'm evaluating a couple of SSDs (Mushkin Chronos) in RAID right now with 1GB/sec sequential writes/reads, but am not sure if I can really complete a review on it due to severe time constraints.

i am writing to the tech sites this week. It looks like we can add them to our affiliate news via email. Don't forget to send the images also.

i am working on Ivy's 4.9GHz. The ECS MB also gets 4.8 easily enough.

I ran PCMark 7 but the results are abysmal.. so I'm just sticking with what I've tested so far.. Intel's NAS toolkit is a no-go too (outdated anyways- Xbitlabs customized it for their reviews anyways). I was going to try out LegitReview's method of testing file transfer speeds but I'm outta time.

Sorry - I just didn't have the time to thoroughly evaluate these drives - the performance with incompressible data plain sucks even though it has 90K IOPs and around 500MB/s read/write speeds per drive (1GB in RAID). And I think that the TRIM support does not work properly under RAID 0 yet (Intel isn't clear about really supporting it under RAID...

(Request permission to add the Editor's Choice award:

EDITORsCHOICE IMAGE

Pros:

Massive 2 Terabytes of storage at 7200rpm

Cheap and affordable

3 years warranty

confirmed to have 64MB cache, despite reports of 32MB cache

three 667GB platters, for fast sequential reads/writes

Cons:

Not an SSD with lightning fast IOPS

Still below average access times for 7200rpm drives, almost as bad seek times as most 5400rpm drives
