I have been experience bad fps on the simplest of games and on the lowest of settings when running my I think it may be a driver issue as in some conflict with Vista because when I download the drivers of the amd official site I have really bad fps and when I allow Vista to choose the drivers it is better but not as smooth as its suppose to be currently I am only running World Of WarCraft and if my old 7800 GS ran it at max settings without a hit I don't expect to be experiencing problems with a 4850

N.B. I was running XP when I had the 7800 GS

I had the same problem with the 8.10 and 8.11 well if it was a matter of it only having "flashing textures" that would be way better than the robotic like movement I have been experiencing you riding on a cliff you need to turn and that one second if not less than a second that it lags you fall of the cliff or worst if a different faction member runs up on you

Well when i contacted ATi about the WoW issues with 4870x2 and the flashing textures, they told me they were aware of the issues and they should be addressed with Cat 8-12

i only played the trial of WoW - for my article on MMORPG on dial-up. Evidently the last major patch really 'made over' WoW's engine and broke some things in ATi drivers
- since i cannot check it [i am currently playing Hellgate: London - free subscriber content now - and AoC] - perhaps you can try Cat 8-12 and report back it it solved the issues

Well is that the same for the 8800 GTS because I borrowed one from a friend and I am having the same fps issue so I don't think its just a case of the Catalyst drivers and my 4850

You installed a 8800 GTS to test it out? on the same PC?

did you use a driver cleaner to remove all traces of ATi drivers? You can have real issues doing this without it.

i guess i could install my 8800GTX and check out WoW .. i have to see if i can use one of my own guest passes :P

But if you are having issues with WoW and 2 GPUs from different vendors, i'd consider backing up my stuff and reinstalling my OS

Yes I agree. That sounds like the problem is not with the cards or the drivers. There seems to be some other conflict that is causing the problems you're having.

Reinstall the OS and use the 8.12 drivers straight off.

Someone told me that my power supply may be two weak for the card so I'm going to try acquiring on and testing it before I proceed to those methods

Usually it either holds (the Power supply) or it doesn't.
