http://www.techpowerup.com/168973/Tegra ... ntron.html"You could soon have NVIDIA Tegra 3 processors running entry-level PCs. COM (computer-on-module) and IPC (industrial PC) designer Kontron developed an NVIDIA Tegra 3 system board in the slim mini-ITX form-factor (170 mm x 170 mm), which is compatible with most ITX/ATX cases. The board has most common PC peripheral interfaces, and is fit to drive an entry-level PC. The KTT30/mITX from Kontron features an NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC, with 4+1 ARM Cortex-A9 cores clocked at 900 MHz and GeForce ULP graphics. The GPU is fit to drive 1080p displays with H264 MPEG-4 encoding/decoding acceleration. Display outputs include HDMI 1.4a (up to 1920x1080 pixels), and LVDS 24-bit (up to 2048x1536 pixel @ 18bpp)."

it is inevitable. Nvidia will be a player in real computers down the line. This particular board is a start, i guess. I think we will have much more serious implementations when project denver fruits. Its gonna be interesting. I dont see this tegra3 board making a splash or anything but it is real and shows their is already interest in making this happen. These early experiments can create useful knowledge and help lay the ground work for the future.

There are lots of these funky little pcb's coming out. Raspberry Pi, the Kontron, and hardkernal. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/07/ ... r-for-129/I guess you could assemble an email checker and light web browser running Linux out of one of the things.

HTPC is also possible for 1080p. It would be dead silent.

One huge market I see for these "funky little pcb's" is the HDTV market. Internet TV, "SmartTV", or whatever it should be called.. it would just be so cool for these hot TV's to have all of the smartphone/tablet functionality built-in. Sure, it might not be popular until a couple years down the road when Tegra 3/4 becomes dirt cheap, but with some TV's still retailing for $2000+, it would definitely be a good niche that keeps the high-end market appealing at ridiculous prices - especially when the average selling price of a 60" HDTV is rapidly approaching the sub-$1000 range.

i know, and thats some crazy cheap pricing. Today it seems like some stuff has went way way up but electronics stand out. PC hardware is dirt cheap compared to cost of living. its strange but i am not complaining. There are some amazing deals like the 199 tegra3 tablet. so many things. You can build intel systems and such a bargain these days. Its unbelievable.
