To see the passive 3D that the ViewSonic V3D231 provides, i don't need HDMI 1.4a nor any particular brand of video card (although it must be powerful enough; 3D still takes a penalty on performance as far as i can see, so far)
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/v3d231.htm ViewSonic did not even provide a HDMI cable with it - instead i am using the DVI cable and the TriDef SW and having to make profiles for 3D games. What is included
Quote:
V3D231, power cable, audio cable, VGA cable, DVI cable, 3D glasses, clip on polarized lenses, Quick Start Guide, ViewSonic Wizard CD-ROM, TriDef 3D software
However, am i missing another kind of 3D? One that uses HDMI 1.4a ?? Or does this display only support TriDef-style passive 3D. There are definite issues with the visuals using the passive polarized glasses.

However, this is a more inexpensive way to do 3D and the monitor itself is very decent.

Compare to 3D Vision - a 23" 120 Hz display is about $300 - the glasses are $100 more. i guess that is just what i am going to do
