It's right where we predicted (well, some of us!), not 30% better, but about 5-20% (depending on app). I knew $500 for a 40% increase was highly unlikely.

Thanks, that made it much easier for me to calculate the exact percentage from the chart, which is 5.99% (see data show the percentage difference for each game/resolution, including the 3Dmark/heaven):

I'm waiting on re-unified drivers to appear and then I'd be interested in see the same chart updated, since there are different forceware versions happening at the moment.

i found (accidentally) that the release drivers (r300.99) also work with the GTX 580; Nvidia said they wouldn't

That was a good read. GK104's release entirely confirms the theories myself, keys, and other people had that Kepler would have more divergent cores - the big core being compute focused like Fermi, but the lesser cores ending up more graphics focused than the lesser fermi's. I think it's a great overall strategy... at least from GK104's perspective.

Yep, could see this direction emerging from the moment GF104 hit.

i'd sure like to go to the GTC this year.
