That would be wise because otherwise u won't see much of an improvement after upgrading to 6870.

Hey SB, I just saw something on Ebay that's pretty cheap considering that it's a 2GB version of GTX 560 Ti:

That looks decent but the card is ugly and I would want a better deal on something used.

Yes, I care about how my graphics card looks. I know it's silly. :)

We'll see what deals are up this Saturday.

Thanks everyone for taking an interest and helping me out. :good:

Do you use one of those see through cases and LED lighting?

Hey should I jump on a Powercolor 7850 2gb for $230 shipped?

And to answer your question, dmcowen, kind of. I just like my rig to look nice inside. Call me crazy if you wish. :)

Ha! Nevermind! I did it!

I finally bought my GPU. The 7850 will hopefully be here soon.

Apparently the initial review samples were artificially held back to 1050mhz on the core, but now you can hit the same 1200-1300mhz as the 7870 and it only performs 5% worse clock-for-clock. :)

i can't imagine that anyone would buy a card on the chance that it overclocks well, but the best of luck to you. Give us your impressions of the card when you get it, please.

I'm the opposite.

When I had an attic I kept the machines there and ran the cables through the wall into the office.

Now that in an apartment will probably put in the closet and run cables to the desk.

The overclocking played a factor, but really the main reasons why I chose this card over the GTX 560 Ti 448:

- 2gb of vram vs 1280mb on the Ti 448
- the 7850 is cooler, quieter, and more energy efficient
- apparently this card overclocks 30% which is a big deal to me; I do overclock and I'm comfortable flashing the bios if I need to
- its performance is quite good and it goes toe-to-toe with the Ti 448
- there are no mail-in rebates involved
- the card is newer and there is a good chance that I will be able to get another one brand new in a year or so for a badass crossfire setup

Hey if I had more time right now and didn't have two screaming babies at me I would offer to review this card for ABT. I have an excellent testing rig now with my 2500k at 4.8ghz. If you guys want I can do it in early July when I'm off work for a bit.
