. i really dont know SB. They are recomending the 7850 over $200 gtx480s, gtx570s, and the gtx560ti 448. They all perform very close and i just dont thing spending 50-80$ more for a card that performs less (7850) is the way to go. Overclocking is variable. Period. at the same price things are not the same. But you can get these other nvidia cards for cheaper!!! TBH I don't think I would have been happy with the midrange nVidia cards, either. After living so long limited by the 768mb of vram on the GTX 460, I wanted something with extra vram this time. Having 1280mb would have irritated me just as much if not more than the stuff that's bothering me about the 7850. I'm starting to wish I had just spent the $140 on a 6870 or a GTX 560.

Well, first of all, I had to buy something *fast* because my GTX 460 died suddenly. I bought the 7850 because: - I thought I could max out all my games at 1080p on it (not true) - I thought 1200mhz on the core was basically guaranteed (not true) - I thought that the temps would be 60C or lower under load (not true) The rest of the info I had was fine, but it's those three points that have me quite upset and I regret buying the card at all. Heck I could have told you that, a single 470 at my OC levels performs at around 1200MHz on the 7850 and it will not max out everything at 1080p.

There's no way that your overclocked 470 can be that fast. Are you benchmarking better than a GTX 580 at those speeds?

The rest of the info I had was fine, but it's those three points that have me quite upset and I regret buying the card at all. You got a 'sales job' over at the other forum. We told you the truth about these 3 points over here and we warned you that they were exaggerating the card's features and value over there. You also got hung up about the "extra vRAM" - of which there is NO advantage compared to Nvidia cards - none whatsoever at 1080 res. That said, you got a decent card for what you wanted to spend. What do you plan to do now?

i see you have a better plan http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2242521Quote: A warning to prospective 7850 owners i am curious to see how they blame everything on you now and maybe on PowerColor - frankly, i have had no issues with 3 PowerColor Radeons that i have; they are decent bang for buck and really no different than any other of AMD's partners.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said to them: "Stop downplaying this and blaming Powercolor".

Yes, it's faster at those clocks than a stock 580. http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.ph ... stcount=57That's at 875MHz, it scales better with clock speed than the 7850. 470 @ 875 = 7850 @ 1100 My cards will do 950 in SLI, 75MHz plus a decent memory OC should be more than enough to push me into 1200Mhz 7850 performance.

i have used 3 PSUs for Bulldozer and HD 6970-X4 QuadFire Oh you so stealth I posted this on Anand, think it's ok? I wasn't even thinking along these lines until I saw the prices of Ivy Bridge, I put in a single max bid of $125 for a p67 WS revolution on Friday night and won it this morning for $125. lol Quote: I have an CX400 in my closet, I'm thinking that should be enough.
HX850 has 840w on the 12v, the CX400 has 360w. With 840 being more than enough for SLI alone with the 9800GT as well I can't see needing more than that.
That should basically give me 1200w on the 12v.
Perhaps though, correct me if I'm wrong
