Alrite, here's the question: Is having sex with video game characters (like in Mass Effect 2) considered to be cheating?

It depends on what you consider cheating. In the Hebrew ten commandments, you are charged not to "covet" ("your neighbor's wife or his ass")  - that is not a physical action - but rather a longing. The principle was expressed by the teacher Jesus who said, "he that keeps on looking at a woman so as to have passion for her, is committing adultery in his heart"
