Yes, with the next set of WHQLs. i am writing the conclusion to my mega platform evaluation right now. Then i finish testing my EVGA FTW Z77 motherboard and it should be about time for that.

i may also get a GCN edition of HD 7970 which would mean that i would update this testing then

Well, now we know the full depth of AMD's response. Not too bad. It will cut their stock and it is an attempt to gain holiday sales and marketshare at the expense of margins. This is good for gamers and will no doubt get a response from Nvidia.

It appears that all the sites that AMD partners with have posted the new driver results
-- four to ten percent improvement with 7000 series

Now the question is, what do you think Nvidia will do? Their last web meeting on the GTX 650 Ti indicated that this was the last of the Kepler launches for this year.

Nvidia needs to bite the bullet and cut prices on their lineup and they need a decent game bundle with their high end cards. AMD is now including two unreleased AAA titles with their 7800 and 7900 cards, both of which are likely to be very popular titles, and Nvidia currently offers NOTHING with the gtx670 and gtx680. Also it also seems AMD has been snagging more games for the gaming evolved program than Nvidia has with TWIMTBP. Nvidia cannot afford to rely on their brand name forever and events like this http://www.overclock.net/t/1312965/even ... in-prizing are adding fuel to AMD's new found momentum. GTX680's and hd7970GE's can be had for about the same price, yet the hd7970GE is a little bit faster and comes with 2 AAA games - it's clearly far and away the better deal.

Who knows Apoppin, maybe they will do a surprise GK110 Geforce release at the end of this year (I still doubt it, though). I guess we will know more when Nvidia's financial results come in next month.

Why not just set your existing hd7970 to GE speeds on the core and vram?

I think it's pretty obvious Nvidia needs to drop prices, but more than that they need to move forward with their refresh. They enjoyed the mid-range $500 card long enough, it's time to stop playing around AMD is like a wild animal cornered fighting for it's life - it will do anything to survive.

The Kepler Juggernaut has been impressive but one can't help take notice what AMD is doing to disparage the juggernaut. The difference in value is getting kinda ridiculous -- especially in the context of even more AMD performance - 5-10 percent and impressive gaming bundles. Granted, AMD isn't doing this to be nice but to spur on sales but the consumer is the benefactor to competition that is nVidia vs AMD.

Still wonderful to see this aggressive nature from AMD and hopefully can garner some impressive sales so not only AMD consumers can garner such impressive value but bring more value to nVidia GeForce consumers as well.

Don't mind paying a modest premium for nVidia's ecosystem but what AMD is doing, one can't help but notice!

absolutely.

But kepler must have really hurt AMD sales for them to respond so fiercely. AMD has made thier products near irresistible......4 game bundles of which 2 are brand new! This is an amassing value.

They are doing this for sales and hopefully they will gain a ton of sales. Especially if nvidia sits on their thumbs and dont step in immediately to offer some comparable value. AMD's move is epic in my book, i mean for us. Whether they make money in the end or not, they are offering tremendous value that simply cannot be ignored.

AMD is fighting for its corporate life. It always does best when it is backed into a corner - at least from its past history. However, it is TEN MONTHS into their product cycle. They are doing what they should have been doing months ago. i was beginning to wonder what the hell happened to them.
