Strong black organic tea is a miracle i know that first hand

Very cool. i will try to find out more if you like.

And if tea fails ... there is always .. coffee
(i am allergic to it; it works *really* well - one cup will keep me awake for over 24 hours)

The other thing that the AMD-friendly forum doesn't quite comprehend is that Kepler is much better than Tahiti at compute (what do you expect from AMD employees?).
OpenCL is optimized for 79x0 which is the only reason why the benches look better. And there is no way to run CUDA on 7970 or it would be a dog in comparison (from what i heard)
(hamster)

this i would love to hear more on. i know that the 680 is better at compute than they make it out but i would like to know how true is this. If its all because openCL is optimized for the 7970 then i would expect optimization for the gk104 to have some huge effect. I would also expect that those optimizations shouldnt be too far off. So i guess i would love to find out more on this. I am not sure i am buying all of it. If you could ask some questions then ask whats up with the gk104 and when is it gonna get better openCL capable. Are they planning on correcting this anytime soon. If not why arent they? if its optimizations that make the 7970 shine in compute then nvidia sould be able to get optimizations for their gk104. I would like to know the status on all of this.

oh and thanks!!!!!

From what i could gather, Nvidia really doesn't care if their gaming GPUs "look good" for compute or not at this point. The K10 dual-GPU pro card is awesome for computing and it is not very different from a GTX 690. However, it is *single precision* and the GK110 has dual precision

Nvidia's baby is CUDA, not OpenCL although they support it. They probably won't do the optimization; more likely they would work with and support the OpenCL programmers - if the programmers have interest.

Well they did cut the DP to 1/24th compare to 1/8th in Fermi.I somehow can't appreciate this move.

Well then, you need to get a K20.

i believe that K10 can only produce peak double precision FP performance of just under .2 teraflops and SP floating point performance better than 4.5 teraflops.

i wonder what it will cost. What are we talking $2-3,000? GTX 690 is a thousand dollars.
:)

i fell asleep in my chair .. heading for bed .. i will be lucky to have anything written by tomorrow
:P

Are you talking about a gaming GPU?

And it is great to recharge my mouse. i hate using a PC without one. i cannot imagine using Photoshop with "touch" on Windows 8

And i moved from organic black tea to Liptons

it tastes bad but has a lot of caffeine; i think the flavor shocks the system awake
:hello:

i see you are familiar with Lipton

And even the nasty taste didn't work .. moving to coffee now

i will have something published before i head to the next session; probably as ABT News. i wanted to start at 9AM to take a look at NSight - but impossible ... Another session is at 10AM (emerging companies; optional), but i *must* be at the 11AM keynote
-- i would say the best ABT article will be the wrap up article. Then i have time to really think about it.
:hello:
