I've been hearing bad things about this card. Making grinding noises and such.

Evga is supposedly upgrading people who have problems to the 670FTW edition on their dime. $20./upgrade

i don't think they are selling the problematic boards any longer. And EVGA jumped right on the problem with a decent upgrade.

Not all of the 670SC boards are affected by issues evidently. But EVGA made the provision for the exchange and free upgrade if you got a bad one. i like EVGA. They have a great community and products.

never had one issue with evga. I also think MSI has stepped up. I used to be an MSI freak back in the early days but i backed off when their quality seemed inconsistent. MSI sure has been moving up. They have some of the greatest GPUs now and with afterburner they showed the whole community some love, whether or not you bought MSI or not. They stood out with this and now Afterburner is pretty much unmatched.

MSI motherboards are getting better too. some people havent realized the improvement but its real. Its a good thing. But back to EVGA......

they are number 1 as far as nvidia cards go. MSI has some great custom gpus but EVGA is a much stronger brand. They have a reputation to uphold and with this 670 issue they have lived up to it.

Evga and Newegg dropped the 670sc from their listings. It was $420.

Now the 670ftw edition is $420.

It doesn't say that; it says 'deactivated' and it may or may not be returned to stock.

Quite a few models are OoS at NewEgg

According to EVGA, only a the initial batch of SCs were bad and those were exchanged for the FTW edition; other etailers are selling them with no issues - they were not generally recalled

I didn't say they were recalled.
All I said was that the FTW edition at both Evga and Newegg are now $420. instead of $440.

If EVGA does not even have a listing for the 670sc on their own website, it must tell you something...... in stock or not.

EVGA 670's
