I love it. The owner of the forum is supporting the thread derail. :D

Such a contrast to the other forums.

i am the one who will have to clean it up

My own threads get derailed. But i don't look at it that way. i see each post (unless it is a thread crap; which is quite different than a derail) as someone 'bumping' the thread to give it attention. No one reads so slowly that they cannot skip the light banter to find the gems.

i look at it this way. About 95% of the posts at VC&G are BS. You have to really sift through the sales pitches and the flames to find any gems over there. ABT posts - even with the 'derailing' has a much higher quality in the overall content.

Fine. I've removed the content of the first two posts until such time as the thread is un-derailed.

gstanford is so easy going eh. Even if you do the guy a favor he'll still push you around and try to force you to do things exactly his way.

You can take you ball and go home if you like. Some children never learn to play well with others.

I created a serious thread, serious threads should not be de-railed. What I'd love as a forum option is the ability for the thread creator to decide if a post will be displayed in the thread or not.

No, I haven't the patience or the spare time for that sort of caper.

In general I don't mind the free form posting and lack of moderation here, but it really irritates when a serious thread is created to benefit people and it gets dragged off topic. Perhaps we need a serious topics sub-forum where there is strict moderation, but trivia threads and derails are not permitted.
