Nvidia knows just how much cutting the bus hurts it, but in order for it to be any faster than HD 7870, Nvidia probably had to leave everything else alone. No, the 7870 is weak. The GTX 660 will still be faster than a 7950 at stock, but if you overclock them it will be a good fight. It actually looks like a very solid GPU. 256/192=33% faster. Hmm...you could be right actually. A 33% difference is quite a bit. I'm surprised you said the 7870 is weak! It's pretty formidable in its own right, beating a 7950 in a couple games, but yeah, it cannot hold a candle to GTX 670/680. thanks Jaydip for sharing! Looks like GTX 660 Ti will be the castrated GK104, but what about GTX 660 non-Ti and GTX 650? Are they just going to be further crippled GK104's?!? I just don't think that NV can clock the GK107 (aka GT 640) high enough at over 1GHz with 6000MHz GDDR5, and then call it GTX 650 - it'd still have a hard time beating even HD 7770. Grstanford, what ya think? The 7950 is deliberately underclocked and is basically a wolf in sheep's clothing once you increase the clock speed. 7870 is nothing special. It's maybe 3% faster than my 7850 clock-for-clock. I will be really disappointed if the GTX 660 only competes with it. I'm 99% positive that it will put up a good fight with at least the 7950.

GPU-Z screenshots: http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/116 ... st17773801 Looks like the gtx660ti will be 256-bit bus, 2 gigs vram, and the gtx660 will be 192-bit bus, 1.5gb vram. I'm guessing $319 for the gtx660ti and $279 for the vanilla 660. Where and when is gk106 going to get here?

thanks, tviceman!! I'm much happier with the GPU-Z ss that shows the 660 Ti to still use the same 256-bit bus @ same clock, and that only the non-Ti will be the truly (fully) castrated version! Looks like the 660 Ti will actually beat HD 7950 by a hair! However, for the 660 non-Ti with only 192-bit bus and 1152 shaders/24 ROPs (with 1.5 GB RAM - thankfully Nvidia is not doing 2GB on this one with an odd number of RAM chips per total bus width that caused some issues for GTX 550 Ti), it does not look like the 660 non-Ti will be able to beat HD 7870 at all. It'd beat HD 7850 for sure, and might still beat GTX 570 by a hair.

There will be a 33% performance delta between the Ti and the vanilla version. That's huge.
As for the rest, it's all going to come down to clockspeeds.

Two 660ti's in sli are looking really good right now. Anyone what to guess how much faster then a 680 they will be.

I don't think it will incur an entire 25% performance penalty. I think the 660ti will be ~10-15% faster than vanilla 660 in most situations, and also faster than a stock hd7950. In games or situations that scale extremely well with memory bandwidth, then the 660ti will be ~20% faster.
