Well, I'm confused.. you were basically saying that we're way beyond "semi" when it comes to intelligence. Isn't that a big difference from the rest of the animals? Is there another animal that can set up what we did on Earth so far? Can a monkey or even a dolphin with 4 brain hemispheres make what Nvidia said was F'ing hard to make? Can a Chimpanzee even count from one to nine, in any one of our languages of abstract symbolism?

And about the whole Romney vs Obama thing that went on for a while in this thread.. blaming way too much on a president, like as if we're a helpless democracy. Come on, guys, we just need to rise up as a true democracy and stand up for ourselves rather than sitting on the couch and pointing out every flaw the president does, blaming even the obesity problem on the president. "Hey, hurricane Katrina wouldn't have happened if Bush were a democrat.".. That is the serious problem with China.. and the former Soviet Union. These helpless peasants waited for a non-existent Moses to lead them free of the reins of the totalitarian authority. And they keep on waiting. They just do not know how to gather into numbers and get what they want. The number one un-resolved democratic issue, by far, at http://www.whitehouse.gov in 2009 was that 95% of the American voters wanted marijuana to be legal, yet the lawmakers still did not. It was right there, at the very top on the official whitehouse.gov list of things Americans wanted to change. Why be such a passive and subservient citizen rather than be the one who truly fights for the country's own true sake rather than the president's sake, dying in Iraq instead of voicing our own democracy? This is also the reason why the ultra-rich gets to enjoy their own secured power, in the political or banking circles while 99% of the rest of the world bend right over for the rich to exploit and buy their own private jets, travel across the Hawaiian islands with a massive yacht. Wouldn't the rest of the world prefer to get what they want rather than bending over just so that the rich can fly? Until we understand that the power comes in numbers (among We the People democracy in sheer massive population), the rich is savoring the power in numbers (among the Dollars from the stupid bent-over poor living in fear and submission). We just need to stop voting Democrat and Republican altogether, and start voting for other parties until there are at least a dozen parties out there competing against each other with a much more fair chance. If we have zero power in even deciding that Romney is the final Republican nominee for president, then this is a big, huge problem that we need to think long and hard about. It's like the Olympics deciding that Russia and China will compete for the gold right at the opening ceremony, without any other countries having a fair participation in the competition for the gold.

There isn't any such thing as "semi" intelligence. You either are or are not intelligent. Quote: Is there another animal that can set up what we did on Earth so far? They could if they wanted to or had a need to, and I think you are seriously underestimated just how much thought and conscious decision making some animals do, though mostly they do it purely for feeding/survival/mating purposes. There is a brilliant octopus intelligence documentary out there that you should watch if you ever get the chance.

Not the documentary I was thinking of above (it was a TV program), but pretty damn good anyway. Watch at ~3.45, if you doubt other animals are intelligent. http://youtu.be/lBLRCs5Xobg

The difference in intelligence between humans and animals is so distinct I'm surprised we're even talking about it.

Either you are aware of yourself, those around you and your environment and can make plans (and act on them or modify them) based on that awareness or you cannot.
