Some people call this a "gimmick" that will get old, or that it doesn't make enough difference to justify the cost. Tomorrow marks 3 full months into it and I'm still at the conclusion it's the only thing that matters at all in computer gaming.
ATi vs NVIDIA? No. 4X AA vs 8X AA? No. PhysX vs Non? Closer, but No.
I just played an hour of UT2004 in the "Invasion" game, on the "Morpheus" level. First, being attacked by swarms of 3d dragonflys, bats, and those hopping things would be enough.
When the guys that shoot rockets, flying things that lob fireballs, and skaarj launching fireballs show up, it's worth the $600 for this game, this level alone.
I don't think I can do justice to what it feels like to have spreads of rockets flying toward and by you in 3d while fireballs lazily criss cross through the sky. You feel like you're an action figure in the midst of a real battle, not just watching one take place in front of you.
That is the key: the bugs bump into you, the rockets fly past you, the fireballs seem to have spatial pacement throughout a 3 dimensional environment, you float through the zero grav environment seemingly covering distance, launching your own energy bolts.
It is just amazing, and this is on a 5 year old game. I am convinced that this is where the industry needs to head, I could care less who offers a new AA sampling pattern or AF method at this point. I don't want to game without this anymore.

The PROBLEM is SEEING it before dropping $600 on it so how do i get one to see for myself; i spent only hours with it at Nvision08 - with their games. i really need one for to evaluate for about ten days - with MY games - to be sure if it is a gimmick for me - or not .. i even signed up at the EVGA site for a "loaner"; they got a great new program [except they should give longer with the MBs] http://www.evga.com/elp/Of course, i haven't heard anything back; i signed up within the first few hours of their program announcement but i am probably Number .. well, My ELP ID: 2864 it is gonna be OLD tech by the time our readers hear about it from any 3D review on ABT of course i have also been envisioning ABT forum in 3D for a long time - duck!

The main good to come out of this are 120 Hz LCDs, demonstrating what a load of crap traditional 60 Hz LCDs are.
Hopefully they'll push 120 Hz into 2560x1600 territory and I’ll finally have a good reason to upgrade my CRT.

That and you need to run vsync on LCDs more often than on CRTs because LCDs tear more without it, so it's a self-perpetuating problem. Even without vsync a 120 Hz display has an advantage over a 60 Hz display because it’s less likely to tear.

I had given that game away 2 years ago and didn't really care if I ever played it again. In 3d, it feels like I'm playing for the first time, and way better. BFG- this actually brings us to a common ground. I've been trying to replay old games I enjoyed in real 3d because it doesn't seem like I'm playing "Space Invaders" now. So I've changed my position 100% on whether old games need to be catered to with drivers, I see the need now.

well, i doubt Nvidia would really like that - they also want a "universal appeal" as we do - i am speaking of transforming ABT forums [first] into an interactive 3-D world powered by a game engine, similar to a MMORPG without ever losing sight of the fact that we are still a forum. A further additional foray into "3 dimensions" with StereoVision would of course be great; and optional as it will always take more HW to render 3D. ---and we have approached Nvidia already; they said they like our "passionate commitment to interactive entertainment" and i also expect to attend their ECS 2009 anyway, Quote: You have not yet been selected to review this product. You will be emailed if you are selected, but you can check back here at any time. - nothing has changed .. i keep checking back

we are expecting 19x12, aren't we ? --i asked the reps at NVISION and i believe they said it was coming this year; of course it is gonna take a beefy video card to handle it . . imo the only real competition to it is the monitors that have it "built in" - no glasses needed; evidently Nvidia's glasses are the best of what is available Aside from that EVGA loner program which i don't ever really expect to participate in, i don't see Kiosks and demonstrations at retail outlets; aside from buying it - and returning it if you are dissatisfied and paying $100 restocking fee, there isn't any way to see it unless you are lucky to have a friend like Rollo living nearby which makes me curious, Rollo .. Has any of your friends bought it because of seeing yours? .. and you never mention your teenage son - i would have a hard time playing StereoVision myself if i had a PC game-playing teenager in the house
