Game Review DilemmaAlienBabelTech is currently focused on expanding our content, our forums and our website. We however seem to have a dilemma in the game reviews department. This is where we want to include you, our readers. You may have noticed that earlier this month, the Far Cry 2 Game Review was published. Far Cry 2 was released last October, however, we still felt like doing the review. It was scheduled to be published a lot sooner but there were quite a few snags along the way. The issue at hand is that there a few games that were released in Q4 2008 and Q1 2009 that we would like to review but we want your feedback. Is it still relevant to do these reviews (even though so late) to expand our content or should we just focus only on games just released and games to come? We invite you to tell us what you would like to see from us. To do so, we encourage you to sign up on our forum and proceed to this thread. Cast your vote in the poll and leave your comments, thoughts and/or suggestions. We look forward to hearing from all of you. ABT invites everyone to “Come live in our world”…so…tell us what you want your world to be like. Leon Hyman ABT Editor

I'm allowed to vote too, right? I say old games should be allowed; heck, I’m thinking of reviewing a 200 5 title and putting it up because I had so much fun playing it. While it’s good to stick to newer games, reviewing older games has its advantages too. You get access to patches, community content, faster hardware, bargain bin bundles, driver fixes, etc.

Great . . . since our editors are giving an opinion, .. me too i say "new games" .. and games our readers request - after we build a current game library, we should look at bargain bin - after a game is patched and the price drops - and "revisited"; old games that have appeal - or a classic with a new mod frankly i think the poll doesn't have enough options

Yes I think our editors should chime in on this one. After all...we are also part of the ABT community out here. I also vote for doing older titles.

So I guess you're not gonna vote then Karan? I'd love to have at least half of the forum members voting. Also, I'd love if the lurkers signed up, even just to tell us what the want to see from us.

I did not see the option for "only review games with gratuitous nudity'.

As a noob to this site, I'd like to point out that many such sites often overlook combat flight sims for the PC. There is one new one out, Rise of Flight, a WWI sim with biplanes. Also there is DCS's Black Shark. It is a sim based on the Russian single-seat attack helicopter. The sim features a 6dof cockpit with click-able switches, and has all the systems modeled in detail, including the damage model and the flight model. Of course the sim can be flown on easy settings too, for those who don't want to engage it's steep learning curve. DCS will be adding the A10c Warthog in the coming months, plus other A/C as time goes by. Now, I don't own either of these sims yet (waiting to complete my new gaming rig), but I know I'll buy Black Shark for certain.
Truth be told, flight sims are the only PC games I own. Planes ,and aerial combat have fascinated me for decades. So, such sims are a great way for me to get my jollies. Only one is not a combat flight sim:FS2004. My favorite sim is IL2 (now IL2-1946). As a WWII flight sim it is tops. The IL2 is the Russian IL2 Sturmovik attack plane, but one can fly planes from all the major combatants of the war. It has a robust online community, and if one wishes to join a virtual squadron, it can be a real blast flying with team mates and scrapping it out in the skies above Europe, Russia and or Pacific. Also of note is that these sims are really CPU dependent, what with physics modeling of all sorts of systems, flight models, AI, etc. There are survey sims which feature many fly-able planes, and also study sims which feature one flyable type that's usually modeled to the nth degree (like Falcon$ which is all about flying the F-16, with full systems modeling and a very steep learning curve. Anyway, my two cents. Flyby out
