I hope they go with at least 8gb. It only makes sense; memory is so cheap these days.

It will still be a $750 console that they will try to sell for $399 and then screw you by overcharging $20 for every single game you buy over its lifetime If you buy 100 games, you spent $2399 more than if you upgraded your PC and bought the SAME games on PC platform Think of the console as gaming on the installment plan --it is a giant ripoff and i hope MS and SONY both flop with their next gen of consoles

Yeah, soon the topic will be "Console and Portable Console Gaming is Dead?"
The 3DS is already a flop. Nintendo had to slash $80 off the price a few months after launching the product, and now it's barely looking attractive. It's actually the same price as Nintendo's older DSi XL was just a couple months ago. OUCH, Nintendo! Playstation Vita might have a better start, but it's getting a bit late for that when more smartphones start to get bigger, support 4G instead of just 3G, and also support glasses-free 3D. Bye bye portable consoles thanks to the likes of 7" and 10" Ipad 3 (yes, it will come in two different sizes) and its competitors. Imagine what Ipad 4 would do? Nintendo and Sony just cannot keep up (if they could, Playstation Vita would have supported 4G and glasses-free 3D just to be that much more future-proof). The smartphone craze will continue to get crazier and when everybody gets hooked on gaming on the Ipad (with well over 500 games to be had just by jailbreaking it), the crowd that still remembers portable console gaming will seem like such a niche crowd.

BUT.. I'm guessing that the NFS: The Run video was taken from a console, or that it will still not support DX10/11 on the PC because I don't see any tessellation on the boobs. Come on, EA and Activision, make your games support DX11. Call of Duty will have a hard time against BF3, and NFS will against GRID 2 that would likely support DX11!!!

You should see my collection of PS3 games. Most of them cost me $5. If you've got the mentality where you need to be the first person to have these fancy games, you're going to wind up poor and alone with a pile of games that 99% of people don't care about. The same applies to cars.

Let me tell you how the world and this business work The DAY the game is released is the greatest sale day and the first week makes or breaks a AAA game as to whether it will do well or poorly. The AI sheep are primed and MUST HAVE IT the day it comes out. They even pay a premium for worthless content from one retailer or another as a sort of bonus for buying it before the reviews come out. If you are a savvy buyer you ALWAYS get the LATEST PC games for MUCH LESS than the console games and you usually get the 1/2 price drop usually within a matter of 3-5 weeks and it hits bargain bin before 6 months is up (about the time it gets its final patch). You will pay more for console games or you will get them much older than you would a PC game (which you can get for $1-2 from Steam sales).

Looks like late 2013 for the next XBox console http://www.develop-online.net/news/3891 ... -Xbox-NextQuote: Multiple sources across the industry, from processor chip manufacturers to middleware firms, have told Develop they expect the console to be fully unveiled at E3 2013, months before its release. The collection of data points to a 2013 launch for the system across all main regions, though early 2014 remains a possibility.
Few in the games business expect Xbox Next to be in stores before the holiday side of 2013 – this Christmas and the next will likely see Microsoft marketing software for Xbox 360, Windows Phone and its Kinect motion controller. ... * Develop understands that Lionhead is working on a project internally named ‘Fable Next’, which will launch on the new console.
* Epic Games’ new Unreal Engine would likely be available sooner than the 2014 date recently given by studio founder Tim Sweeney.
* One source still insists that an EA studio already has rudimentary Xbox console technology on desks. EA has flatly denied the claim.
Further data on the so-called ‘Xbox Next’ project comes amid new information showing that preliminary work on PlayStation 4 games is underway. Fable IV should sink the XBox720 launch

I have a feeling that the demise of blockbuster is affecting both console games and movies.
It's too bad. I used to love renting movies.

PC gaming dead? i don't think so :p http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2 ... t-of-3-7bnQuote: Square Enix recently doubled it's profit forecast, a prediction which these results met almost exactly. The profit forecast for the full year now stands at ¥5 billion.
In the report accompanying the statement, Deus Ex: Human Revolution was quoted as having shipped over two million units, whilst smartphones, web-based income and social networks were all cited as growth sectors. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2 ... -six-weeksQuote: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is expected to generated revenues of $1.1 billion in its first six weeks.
That's according to Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter, who suggested the game will sell 10 per cent more than previous title Black Ops.
Pachter also estimated that the Call of Duty Elite premium service could pull in up to 4 million subscribers by the end of the year.
As noted by our sister site Industrygamers, Call of Duty: Black Ops generated $650 million in its first five days, up from Modern Warfare 2's $550 million.
