Some new screen shots have emerged showing Gothic 4 progress. I'm quite relieved by them actually since the concept art by the new team had me a little worried at first, but the world is definitely Gothic style, hopefully the gameplay will be too. I have a feeling it will, the giant weapon Nameless (the hero) is wielding just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. I've yet to meet a game with huge medieval weaponry that wasn't brilliant fun to play. http://games.on.net/article/8764/Arcani ... et_screens

Pirhana Bytes has nothing to do with the Gothic franchise anymore (the last time they could claim involvement was Gothic3), it's JoWood's responsibility now (and SpellBound's for Gothic 4 at least). Let us hope JoWood does not stuff things up like they did with Forsaken Gods (Forsaken Gamers more like).

Risen was a barely altered Gothic3, engine wise, just a smaller world which the engine coped better with, they did reintroduce climbing back into the game and added dymanic skies/lighting, but 99% of Risen is recycled Gothic3 and the plot while OK is certainly no Gothic level story. anyone could have wrote it. A bit disappointing given how long it took them to release it after Gothic3, I suspect they are too much like some of their game characters -- overly fond of the "weed" and productivity goes south...

Days like Gothic 3, Piranha Bytes of the Risen One, and the Gothic series has been brought Spellbound Entertainment. The game went multiplatform, and the goal was to do something that would draw a wider audience, especially in North America.

Have you had any chance to play it yet? i hear it breaks with Gothic tradition by having you start off rather powerful. i will not likely get to it for awhile - but i AM having a lot of fun with the Galaxy GTX 480 SOC. No time for SLI yet.
