i would have to agree. I would buy a 2600k/3770k over the 2500/3550 any day. Multi threading is the norm these days. Hyperthreading makes to much sense these days.

i still have planned an evaluation using 3770K with HT on vs off in gaming as a follow up to my i3 HT article on Dual core HT. i don't think there are many games that take advantage of more than 4 cores. Crysis and Warhead only use 2 cores.

What do I have to do, post a bloody video of crysis running on one monitor with performance monitor running in the other?!
Yes, you ***SHOULD*** go and do some testing!

Maybe you should do some reading OBVIOUSLY your operating system is not dead while Crysis is running

So?! If the hyper-threading were not available the OS activity, etc would be robbing Crysis of performance. So hyper-threading ***STILL*** helps the game to perform better.
There is very little unnecessary OS activity on my system while gaming though. I can monitor that too, I have the HDD activity led on an extension lead positioned where it is easily visible. Not to mention while idling on the desktop my OS basically flatlines in permformance monitor UNLESS I ask it to do something (yes, I carefully configure the services on my system to ensure microsoft's bloatware doesn't get in my way).

Crysis uses 2 cores. period. If you have a 2500K, you will not gain ANY advantage playing with a 2600K at the same speed. HT does ****Nothing**** for Crysis. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2 ... mes-need/2

You are wrong. Go do some testing. Don't forget graphics drivers have been upgraded a lot since you last tested and they can multithread too.

What are you babbling about. Multi threading is written into the game. Crysis and Warhead make use of dual core
Nothing more
Go educate yourself. All the weight of testing is on my side. i won't waste my time further discussing this nonsense with you. There are probably only a handful of games that take advantage of more than 4 cores so HT would be a waste in that case.
One would pick a 2600K over a 2500K for everything except gaming
