I was thinking of posting this in the For Sale/Wanted section, but will post it here as a freebie since it's a free service for all who come here on ABT forums:

Anybody who wants that new CPU for $80 cheaper at Microcenter than could be found anywhere else, including Newegg, just let me know. It could only be picked up at the local Microcenter, not bought online for such a huge discount.

I live only 2 miles away from Microcenter (near DC), and go there roughly once a week (it's right next to my favorite grocery store Trader Joe's at Federal Plaza, and the plaza next to it is called Congressional Plaza.. how cool is that - anyways, me silly)!

Just send me the $ (look up my Heat under the name Bo_Fox - I'd certainly want to boost my reputation further with this), but you'd also have to pay for the tax and the shipping (with insurance included if you wish). It'd still end up to be around $50 cheaper or so than anywhere online for retail. And you get the store receipt too, of course.

No charge for my time - I have plenty of shipping boxes as I do a lot of Ebaying, and there are post offices 1 mile from my home. No problem for you fellow ABT'ers! I'd go there ASAP once I receive the funds, and even ship it to you on the same day if possible.

Hope to be of some service! :hello:

Shipping to the US only, though - as I had some problems with Italy in particular (delayed shipments for like 6 weeks with 3-4 of my Ebay stuff sold to Italians) and it's so much more expensive and risky for $200+ items, but I could do up to $100 products for Int'l shipping to anywhere except Italy.

(I guess I should update this thread once in a while with such bargain CPUs that could be picked up at the B&M Microcenter - if any of you see the deals/prices, please feel free to update this thread with info)

Very cool

Look at the awesome deals they are offering with their FX CPUs (basically a selected free AM3+ MB or up to about $120 off others).

Just went there this morning - they have the i7 2500K for $179 and i7 2600K for $279. Both are $90 cheaper than retail.

(for a list of more CPUs that can only be picked up in-store for a discount - they also compare it to the Newegg and Tigerdirect prices on the list for some CPUs: http://www.microcenter.com/search/searc ... 4294966995 )

PLUS if you buy either 2500K or 2600K, you get $50 off of any of the select 16 motherboards (socket 1156) - some of the motherboards are awesome. Wicked deal! However, I'll be off to NYC (and Boston) again for close to 1 week on Tuesday - so the "service" will be on hold then..

And there may be soon a new ABT regular contributing editor
=D>

i am hoping that MC still has those great deals for Ivy Bridge. It's about time for me to upgrade my i7-920. However first, i am going to try to get it over 4GHz. i got the FX-8150 to 4.8GHz benching stable with 1.425V on Water(!) and i am going to see if i can get the same OC with the Thermaltake FrioOCK. If so, then try for max OC on the 920.

It would be awesome if you could ship stuff to Canada for me.

I do manage to find hot deals here, though.

I'm not going to be looking for computer hardware for quite some time now. My rig is going to last me *years* now that I game at 1280x1024. I've actually sold off close to $500 worth of my computer hardware over the past month or so. I made a handy profit on some of the components which really shocked me. I'm used to losing money on computer hardware.

Canada - no problem! Shipping isn't too expensive for Canada, but shipping insurance is a hairy thing (lots of $ for over $100)..

BTW, I looked a bit more into the Microcenter deal and found that it's not just 2500K or 2600K but also i3 2100 with which you could get a $50 discount on not just some of the 1155 motherboards that I saw in the advertisement poster in front of the store but for ALL 1156 motherboards. It seems to be for the entire month of February:
Quote:
The 3 CPU's eligible are i3 2100, i5 2500k and i7 2600k.

The $50 discount will apply when ANY LGA 1155 motherboard is in your cart along with ANY of the 3 CPUs listed in the OP. This is despite the ad implying that the i5 or i7 needs to be combined specifically with a Z68 or P67 motherboard. For instance, add a cheap H61 board and the i5 2500k to your cart and you will get this discount. SLICK!

The cheapest eligible motherboard [microcenter.com] is $64.99.
(quoted from http://slickdeals.net/f/3778946-i3-2100 ... ocenter-bm )

Hmm...well...thank-you very much for the offer. I'm gonna keep my eye on their specials. I'm tempted to ask you to grab me an X6 1045T; they have them for $130 and I'm sure I could get at least half of that for my current X4 CPU.

This is tempting as well:

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0382790

The "Zosma" chips can often unlock to 6 core Thubans. It's so temping for $109. :)

More than happy to do it for you (but leaving on Tuesday, back next Monday)! Wait a minute.. you still stuck at 1280x1024? That was great for the year 1998, but not for now! Just do yourself a huge favor and upgrade to a bigger widescreen resolution ASAP!!! I think there are some nice used 1920x1200 panels on the forums or Ebay for cheap.
