Is $120 a decent price for a 1920x1080 21.5" LED monitor?

It depends on the monitor. Quote: The "Zosma" chips can often unlock to 6 core Thubans. It's so temping for $109. what if it doesn't unlock? i bought a 550 X2 and a 720 X3 from Newegg about the time of the "my $100 Quad" threads and neither unlocked stably. And i have a Phenom II 980 BE that clocks to 4.3GHz easily. Is there any unlocking possible there?

No, those don't unlock. The only quads that unlock are the "Zosma" 960T chips. The monitor is an Asus VE228H, 21.5" LED Widescreen Monitor, 1920x1080, 5ms(GtG), 10,000,000:1(ASCR) w/Speakers, VGA, DVI-D, HDMI I might go pick one up today if my wife will let me.

Or what about this one:
Acer S220HQLAbd
The Acer has slightly better specs and got really good reviews on newegg. It's $120 as well.

My personal experience with ASUS is better then with ACER but then my experience with ASUS is more recent. i did not care for my ACER 1440x900 display from 3-4 years ago (on the quality/IQ level of HP for digital cameras back then also).

The Asus one has HDMI (plus speakers). If you ever wanna watch a blu-ray movie on it, it'd be so much more convenient than the other monitor (without having to crack the blu-ray movies with Slysoft AnyDVD that is usually a month or 2 behind with cracking the new releases).

I think I'm going to try to look at them both in the store.
The Asus has built in speakers and supports HDMI which is nice, but it also requires a $10 MIR. The Acer has a higher contrast ratio (100 million to 1 vs 10 million to 1 on the Asus).

Interesting. I'll go with the Asus one then. Is $120 a decent deal?

It seems like it from looking at what is available on NCIX. Maybe get the display model for a discount. i got a perfect on-display Samsung 1680x1050 back about 5 years for 1/2 of what they were going for unopened. - it was never touched as it was on the top shelf.

Interesting. I'll go with the Asus one then. Is $120 a decent deal? Yeah, if it's $140 on Newegg.com, I think $120 is more than decent. Plus you have the convenience of checking it out for dead pixels and then easily returning it to the store for an exchange if it does have dead pixels or anything else wrong with it. That alone sure beats Newegg even if Newegg were $10 cheaper, IMO.. About the contrast ratios - I do not buy the 100,000,000:1 ratio. Your eyes probably wont be able to tell the difference between 10,000 and 1,000,000,000,000,000,000000000000000000 ratio! The exaggerated dynamic contrast ratio is all baloney... awesome baloney! Most people who are past their teenage years have very very mild "cataracts" in their eyes that greatly reduces the true contrast ratio. The eyes are usually peaked out at around 14 years of age, and then declines thereafter. Many dogs and cats that are only 7-8 years old already develop visible cataracts... thank goodness we ain't dogs!
