lol I didn't get an infraction for saying "What's it like being the worlds biggest tool, MrK6?"..

But I got a PM from Idontcare:

If you are reading this pm and you are not a moderator then you are the intended recipient of the message below.

==============================

Dear Poster,

You are reading this because you were BCC'ed on a mass-mailing list that includes a dozen or so of our top-ranked problem posters in VC&G per the recent reported-posts queue as well as active posts that are viewed as inflammatory and flamebaiting in the locked threads relating to Kepler.

As you are aware, the launch of NVIDIA's Kepler is mere days away. And while new video cards on a new process is a joyous occasion for techies everywhere, it is not without its downsides.

We are of course talking about the trolling, the flaming, and the flame-baiting.

The fact of the matter is that discourse in this forum is reaching an all-time low, with us handing out far too many infractions and seeing too many new posters run off.

This forum has become unfriendly with the trolling reaching the point where even old, banned trolls are taking the time to get around their bans just to post.

We're simply not going to go through this on the Kepler launch; enough is enough.

As of the timestamp on this pm notification to you, we are implementing a new policy in Video for the period prior to the launch of Kepler.

As a key rabble rouser and inflammatory poster, if you continue on your current path and whip up yet another frenzy of flamebaiting and flaming such that you receive yet another infraction between now and the Kepler launch, you will be vacationed for whatever duration is necessary such that you are not off vacation until 2 days after the launch of Kepler.

This is for any infraction in Video, for trolling, profanity, or any other action which would require us to issue an infraction.

By our estimation we have roughly a dozen posters who cause 95% of all problems here (and this pm is in your inbox because you appear to be one of that dozen), and this is your fair-warning: you are expected to be on nothing less than your best behavior.

The consequences of you not being on your best behavior are that you will be sidelined, missing out on the forum discussion leading up to the release of Kepler as well as the post-launch forum discussions for the 48 hrs following its launch.

One way or another this is going to be the best video card launch we've had on the AT Video forums in quite some time.

We sincerely hope this is because everyone chooses to behave themselves, but if not we're not going to let trolling ruin it for everyone else.

You have been given this forewarning with the hopes that this is all it takes to prevent the sort of cascading rampant flaming and flamebaiting that necessitated the closure of the two GTX680 threads linked above. Do not force our hand here, if you force us to make good on this then you will be vacationed swiftly and promptly.

Regards,
The VC&G Mod Team

But their solution is lock all the kepler threads???? they dont see anything wrong with that? Its exactly what AMD would want. To silence kepler. ATF is allowing it? no actually contributing. In these kepler threads the AMD crew gets the last few hundred bashing words of nvidia and anyone who remotely likes nvidia, then ATF locks down the thread just like that. So if anyone goes there to read their forums about kepler, this is all they get to see. They lock the thread but leave all the bashing and beatings there?????? how is that fair? If it was so bad they resorted to locking, why is it still viewable at all?

Why dont they just remove the threads completely. Dont leave them up, the damage is done. Its great for AMD for them to remain up. hundreds of bashing post on their competitor remain up with no chance of defense. This is working out beautifully for the AMD army over there. This is what they want!

If i where Anand, and i didnt have bias, i would remove the thread entirely. if it was of no good use, why allow it? Anandtech is destroying their image. they allow it to happen. And their locking is really adding to this. Anandtech is supposed to be for every geek, not just 32% of them!!!1

You should try overclocking Bulldozer and HD 6970 QuadFire.

http://alienbabeltech.com/main/?p=28241

The test room was cold when i started out ... using 1750W total for my PC, it warmed very quickly. Better than any 1500W space heater than i have ever used
(cooking)

And technically no matter what you use to cool something - air or water (but not CO2 nor LN2) - unless you are exhausting the heat to outside of your room or introducing some other cooling, all of it eventually makes it into the room and may affect the ambient temperatures no matter how cold the electronic part is kept running.

i guess i should give a special shout out to the AMD viral who keeps saying how bad ABT is and driving the curious to actually look at what we post is very different from their lies. That we have far more freedom to express individual opinion unlike their mob-mentality and moderation protection that kills any reasonable dissent and discussion. And the result is that ABT forum is getting more quality posts and posters while they continue to decline.

Also a big thank-you to the Administration for banning Dave so he can devote his attention to building this site instead of rearranging the deck chairs on the ATF Titanic.

All of this is really helping to build our site.

Unless you have another source of heat/cooling offsetting the room yes, assuming the room is insulated no matter how cold it starts out it's going to end up warmer with a modest heat source.

However the room in question was a shed outside (I run my loop through a window outside in the winter, or down stairs sucking the AC in the summer), and ambient was about right around freezing. Which is why I said it was doing a rather poor job of heating the room ;) A bon fire, well now that would have heated it up much better ;-)

I've thought about bulldozer because my i5-2500k gives me all sorts of problems with low operating temps, including the inability to post the the dedicated gpu's while sub 0. But that's not going to happen, hopefully IB has more tolerance to cold.

You were already warned to knock it off with the flamebaiting and inflammatory posting. Sorry you couldn't resist the temptation to see if we were serious...not to rub it in but you just talked yourself into a vacation, you will be released from vacation 2-days after Kepler's release, however far off that may be.

Public Service Announcement for the rest of the readership - do not post in kind as BoFox has done unless you wish to join him in his vacation.

The baiting and flaming in the run-up to Kepler release has been unacceptable, it ends now.

Administrator Idontcare

How the hell was that flamebaiting?

(hh)

All I did was share the news that Kepler looks to be DX11.1 (besides honestly expressing that I was sharing it over there just to "rub it in" against the AMD trolls after making the thread so utterly tiresome to read with their anti-NV agenda).

Let them mark the territory with AMD-troll piss, which Idontcare does not care to wander in.

Man, it's gonna be hard for Keysplayr to manage.. if I were compensated for this with NV products etc.., I'd probably be able to tolerate the thread-wreckers a tiny bit better.

Just one NV Focus Member is not going to be able to keep the threads from being littered with anti-NV propaganda that completely undermines the readership quality of each and every GK104 thread.

Idontcare, trust me, you just talked yourself into allowing the AMD trolls to rule these threads. Good luck with endlessly and indefinitely "axing" the regenerating worms without ever really understanding the source (where the thread-crappers really come from).

End of story.

It ends, "now", nevermind the AMD trolls can continue to bait and say things ten times worse without even a glance in their direction by the uneven and apparently insane moderation of the ATF administration.

Maybe the mods have notice a pattern of AMD users OT'ing a thread about Nvidia cards and derailing it to the point where they feel they need to lock it so instead of locking it they're going to issue infractions and simply remove the problem posts?

I bet that ALL of the AMD trolls reported this very post by you, BallaTheFeared - heck, maybe one mod even reported it to the other mod.

Nope, the mods apparently didn't notice the pattern that you tried to point out.

If they already noticed the pattern, only ONE thread would have been locked, instead of 4 (FOUR) consecutive GTX 680 threads.

I get warned because I get reported so much, even though I'm not breaking any rules.

You have received a warning at AnandTech Forums
Dear BallaTheFeared,

You have received a warning at AnandTech Forums.

Reason:
-------
Misc Complaints

Hi Balla;

Over the last two weeks we've had a number of complaints filed about you. None of them were infraction worthy, but it is becoming a problem none the less. As such I wanted to go over them with you.

1) Bulldozer comparisons in Video. Bulldozer is a sore point for a number of people in the technical community, and while this isn't your problem the fact that you keep bringing up BD in Video is. There are very few situations where a Bulldozer comparison is meaningful; the complaint is that it's being brought up just to taunt the AMD fanboys, and there have been posts where I'm inclined to agree.

2) Your GTX 470s. It's clear that you love them and that's fantastic. But other members are getting tired of hearing about them. The complaints here waver between people getting tired of gloating, and people getting tired of arguments devolving into the video card equivalent of "my dad could beat up your dad".

Basically we'd appreciate it if you could cut the rhetoric, and leave these two subjects alone. This isn't an order, it's only a request. But if we keep getting complaints we're going to have to do something as this will eventually blow up.

Please let me know what you'd like to do.

-Thanks
ViRGE

ATF is slowly but surely losing members over to ABT..
