It replaces my old Motorola Milestone XT720 and it's much, much better. It's way faster. It does things instantly that would take my old phone 3-5 seconds.

What I deal I got on it as well. The deal is today only at Future Shop in Canada through Virgin Mobile. All you have to do is unlock it using FastGSM for $15, then cancel your service with Virgin, pay off your tab, and then you own the phone outright and can use it on any network that you want.

It costs $150 to pay the tab off, but they gave me a $100 gift card so it works out to $50. This is a steal IMO for a nice smartphone. Smartphones usually cost around $500.

It sounds like you got a good deal. Why the $100 gift card? Is it guaranteed to everyone who does this?

They were giving away $100 gift cards yesterday with this phone at Future Shop.

Basically you have to pay $150 for the phone but the $100 gift card makes it work out to $50.

The phone works great so far. I'm going to mess around with custom ROMs soon. I need my phone to work this week so I don't want to mess around with it yet.

It seems that Android needs 512mb of ram to run smoothly. My old phone just chugged along compared to the new one.

Hmm so I put on the "Rebel ROM" and it's working even better now.

I highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy W/"Exhibit 2" to anyone looking for a budget smartphone.

Now I've got Ice Cream Sandwich running on the thing.

It runs beautifully although it's in beta and the camera doesn't work.

This phone was a *steal* for $50. I don't really feel the need for a dual core CPU like the more expensive phones have. I'm hoping to overclock my CPU as well. I have a feeling I can get 1.8ghz out of it which would be an 80% overclock. :D

have a feeling?????

if you can get an 80% overclock that would be insane. i bet power consumption would be through the roof but it still would be something freakn great. just knowing you are able even if you dont always use it overclocked like that.

1.8ghz

Yes, you did get a steal. Virgin Mobile usually charges $350 to break a contract.

Well, my phone (Galaxy W T679M) has the same CPU as the full fledged Galaxy W, just running at a lower frequency. Many users are reporting hitting 1.8ghz easily on the Galaxy W so I'm optimistic. It has a default frequency of 1.4ghz, by the way, compared to 1ghz on my phone. I just need an overclocking app that's compatible and I will try for this massive overclock. I already rooted the phone so I'm ready to go.

I really think that at 1.8ghz my phone will be faster than phones like the iPhone 4S with dual core 1ghz CPUs.

That was the beauty of it. I didn't sign a contract. I got the phone on a supertab through the pre-paid service.

Even 150$ for such phone is a good price. And I don't like to buy any locked phones, I feel like being trapped by the provider.
