No, I don't think so. I think the "editor" was having one to one interview with Jen Hsun concerning his Stanford University donation.

I didn't think you'd find it so hard to connect the dots. Up until I heard about the Stanford donation I wasn't sure exactly what Chris was referring to with his post (other than it was obviously a personal interview with somebody at nvidia), but now it makes perfect sense (and more egg on the faces of the fanatics).

Look at the entire thread and the context:

Chris' comment

ChrisRay: There was "one" editor invited too Nvidia this week. And it was not a press event. It was a one on one interview type thing.

So, any news on what went down at the NVIDIA spoiler press event today?

Now go to the link i gave you and see who wrote the article (on September 10):

"The School of Engineering at Stanford is a major source of intellectual energy for Silicon Valley and beyond," said Huang, who earned his master's degree in electrical engineering at Stanford in 1992. I didn't notice this post last night. What makes you think I've owned the x800 for 4 years, LOL? I picked it up mid 2007 very cheaply off of ebay.

It doesn’t really matter how many years you had it; your posts are still trolls and baiting.

Quote:
Back then you were still telling anyone who would listen (or couldn't escape you) how superior ATi's drivers were compared to nvidia's, especially in your precious legacy games.

Yep, I stand behind those comments 100%.

Quote:
I like older games as much as anyone, and play plenty of them fairly often. I certainly have never encountered the problems you have running them on nvidia hardware, but then, you always seem to have trouble where nvidia's concerned, don't you?

Heh, that’s pretty rich. 100 pages on the 6800 series stuttering/freezing: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthr ... 2759&pp=15

This is but one of many multi-page posts. That’s the same issue you claimed never existed. After I dropped my X800 XL into the same system everything was flawless, fast writes and all.

As for other bugs (e.g. G80 launch), almost all of them started getting fixed after I reported them, and some were even referred to in nVidia’s driver read-me. I could rattle off dozens of personal examples (e.g. Serious Sam sky corruption, abysmal performance in Jedi Academy with dynamic lighting, rendering artifacts in Halo and Painkiller), all later fixed in driver updates.

Here are some more: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=82074. In that thread Grestorn confirmed the issue with Jedi Academy, and several others confirmed the Halo corruption. I could also link to my own thread but I started editing it and removing bugs as they were removed, so it’s largely empty now.

You also denied the alt-tab issue, yet multi-page threads (e.g. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=91118) confirmed it, along with nVidia’s driver readme when they fixed it. Here’s nVidia’s confirmation of a fix: http://techreport.com/discussions.x/12877

But then this is hardly surprising given you were running around claiming AA + HDR worked on your GF7 card while claiming the X1xx series didn’t support AA + HDR, when reality was the complete opposite.

Seriously, stop dredging this old sh!t up. You were wrong then and you’re still wrong now. It’s time to move on.

I played farcry on a 5900XT & 6800GT. I certainly never suffered any stuttering/freezing while playing, and I still have all the hardware I originally played on and can replicate the conditions under which I played exactly if need be. I used nForce2 at the time, and since then I've added a VIA based socket A board to the collection also. Amazingly enough, I don't get stuttering/freezing on it either.

Did you happen to notice MikeC's update in the first post of your link? Pointing the finger at punkbuster? (which I never enable since I never play online/multiplayer).

Alternatively it could be something in your system tray (an IM app was causing a 4890 to stutter in this very recent thread - http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=55170)

And you certainly cannot rule out PSU's from causing this sort of issue (or the voltage regulators for the AGP slot on your motherboard) - nv40 was a demanding card power wise for its time. What was your m/b & PSU?

here are some high resolution pics to enjoy while we wait for the benchmarks to leak out:
(most reviewers are waiting on AMD for usable drivers for 5870; they are expected today)

i got very little more than what is being circulated on the 'net.

Basically, paired with a fast quad-core at 19x12 with 4xAA/16xAF, the HD 5870 is equally fast as a HD 4870-X2 in Far Cry 2 and in Crysis Warhead. However, in HAWX/GRID, the HD 5870 seems to under-perform and the HD 4870-X2 is solidly faster.

i think i will keep my 4870-X2 for a little longer; at least 'till 5870-X2. Damn, that has been a card that has been useful for benching for a long time; i got it at a great price well over a year ago. Almost as good a value as 8800-GTX which still decent as a midrange card.
