I could've swore I turned the Windows firewall off but it's been running alongside Kaspersky internet security 2010 all along.
I've heard it's unwise to run two or more together, but have not had any problems thus far.

So, should I keep running them together, or shut off the Windows firewall?

Well, Windows firewall (as far as I know) isn't a "firewall" like Kaspersky. The limits of Windows firewall is basically up to blocking ports, but other firewalls do a bit more.

Basically, I think of windows firewall as an extension of Windows Defender/MSE.

With that said, I don't think its going to protect you anymore with it on than it would off (provided Kaspersky is running :P). You'll at least rid yourself of the windows firewall popups!

Q: Should I leave the Windows Firewall on or off?

A: Kaspersky Anti-Virus does not include a Firewall, but our full-featured Kaspersky Internet Security does. Please leave the Windows Firewall on.

The Kaspersky firewall takes over the default Vista firewall to provide a much more powerful level of protection when used in training mode.

Yes, Kaspersky Internet Security is different to Kaspersky AntiVirus.

There isn't any harm in keeping the windows firewall running. It isn't a proper firewall anyhow.

I use privatefirewall

Also, if you want to give it a try - Ive become a huge fan of Microsoft Security Essentials. I have had zero problems with just using MSE. Only virus scan Ive actually left on my computer for more than a week.
