Is the end of the world as we know it according to many Civilizations.

It is my 50th Birthday so it must be true

Below will be a tally of events leading up to the end of times.

A six-story-tall statue of Jesus Christ with his arms raised along a highway was struck by lightning in a thunderstorm Monday night and burned to the ground, police said.

The "King of Kings" statue, one of southwest Ohio's most familiar landmarks, had stood since 2004 at the evangelical Solid Rock Church along Interstate 75 in Monroe, just north of Cincinnati.

The sculpture, 62 feet tall and 40 feet wide at the base, showed Jesus from the torso up and was nicknamed Touchdown Jesus because of the way his arms were raised, as though reaching out to catch a football. It was made of plastic foam and fiberglass over a steel frame, which is all that remained early Tuesday.

Maybe the next one they should make out of flame retardant material

Strange.. I had a dream of being struck by lightning right around that time! People in my family (great uncle, aunt, etc..) have been killed by lightning, and I've been 10-15 feet away from a lightning bolt *twice*, once when I was 15, and then again when I was about 22.

We're too dependent on metal and electricity after all!

Perhaps we all have something in common here on ABT related to lightning or even aliens!

Most of the lightning experiences date back to days on Long Island and my late Mom.

She experienced getting indirect hits 6 different times, 4 of them work related as she was a Telemarketer and got zapped there those 4 times.

The other two times were at home. She was on the phone in the kitchen one day. I was on the couch in the living room watching TV when all of a sudden I saw a flash come out of the telephone handset and it hit her in the chin. It was a nice summer day outside but there were apparently thunderstorms somewhere on the island between us and the phone system.

The other time was also a hot summer day and a fast thunderstorm hit, she was in the tub and the antenna on our roof got struck and bent over, she felt a shock in the tub.

My experience was I was working on an electronic project of sequencing lights so it uses triacs. Apparently a storm was moving in and it struck the electric lines and a flash came out of one of the triacs and zapped me. I was OK but I had to change that fried the triac. Other than that the board was fine.

Oh man, you're giving me goosebumps with the idea that some people just are prone to attracting lightnings (like me and my family)!

Sometimes I just cannot stomach the thought of being zapped like when I was changing a breaker circuit with a screwdriver that thankfully had rubber on the handle! It actually blew a sizeable chunk of metal off the screwdriver tip, and made the rest of it turn black. I could feel the instant heat-up of it all the way to my chest as it zapped with sparks, as loud as a buckshot. That was me having too much faith listening to my dad when he told me to help him pull it out, but I thought he already turned off the electricity.. never again!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this will sound insensitive and I mean nothing against Dave's mother, but, frankly the idea of telemarketers being zapped by lightning when they are on the phone is hugely appealing to me.

Here in Australia we are absolutely plagued by international operators (mostly from India) who unless you place your phone number on a "do not call" register will endlessly ring you up claiming to be from Telstra (Australia's dominant Telco) and wanting you to switch your phone business to them. You have no idea how much delight most Australians would take from one of these arseholes being fried by lightning while harrassing innocent victims.

Back in the days before the Internet, Telemarketing was a legitimate tool.

However now with the Internet and cell phones it is no longer and should be banned globally.
