That's fair.
Usually, I don't mean the things I say......... Sometimes it's an impulse thing, which is not an excuse btw.
With you two, I like to screw around with ya' a little. Yea' it gets out of hand, but I'll try to tone it down (group-hug)

Here's my own list of top ranked video cards (a lot of credit goes to the forum posters at overclock.net, including myself a tad bit, but I went ahead and changed a few things to what I think is more accurate here... subjectively, of course):

First, keep in mind that all the Radeon 5xxx and Geforce 4xx cards can play DX11 games. All of the Radeon 2xxx and Geforce 8xxx cards can play DX10 games, but not DX11. Anything below these numbers are limited to DX9.0c.

It's still confusing

Can you put DX9 only next to cards that cannot do DX11?

Updated the list with pretty colors.. what u think?

As to the list, #s 1, 2 and 6 are essentially meaningless.

The Ares is a limited edition $1200 card that is just for status
(it says how loose you are with your money and that you care to attempt to impress)

The 2/4GB versions of the HD 5870/5970 offer no practical benefit over the lesser vRAM equipped models - not even for Eyefinity.

So your GTX 470 would be 5th on the list; my video cards are 2nd and 3rd

#1 Radeon HD5970 2GB
#2 Geforce GTX 480 1536MB*
#3 Radeon HD5870 1GB*
#4 Geforce GTX 295 1792MB
#5 Geforce GTX 470 1280MB*

Yeah, I agree with you mostly here.. but there are big improvements in Alien vs Predator at Eyefinity resolutions. I'd expect to see more in the future when more demanding games come out. What about Metro 2033.. doesn't it use a lot of VRAM especially when turning on AA @ 2560x1600? 1GB is starting to get old--we've been having 1GB for like 3 years since the HD2900XT, and there were already differences.

Well, the Ares should not be on the list except as a curiosity.

GTX 480 has 1.5 GB vRAM
:good:

Updated the list with a couple new cards, such as HD 5550 with DDR2 (not GDDR5) memory, since the DDR5 version has exactly 5 times the bandwidth as the DDR2 version (which actually has lower bandwidth than a 9700 Pro from 2002).

I'm thinking that the GTX 460 768 MB version should be placed below GTX 275, since the 275 seems to beat it in more games than not (excluding DX11, of course). What do you guys think?

Your avatar is looking more angry than usual; someone it ate?

it is difficult to absolutely rank cards when there are newer DX versions out than some of the older cards can run.

Like my avatar? I love yours..

The "pinky" demons in Doom always crack me up whenever they try to bite me even though I have a chainsaw in between.
