Hahaha.. just thought it'd be funny to list all of those.

They say 6990 is next month

It'd be in their best interests to delay it anyways because the 40nm round isn't over yet by a long shot, and once they release the dual-chip cards, it means that the prices will have to go down on the single chip cards, starting with the 580 and 6970 and trickling down from there.

Plus I don't think NV is going to change it--they've probably already made sure that their 590 is ultimately unbeatable. What do you think?

2x 200W GF110's operating at 650MHz each
vs
2x 180W RV970XT's operating at 800MHz each

It'd be pretty close, IMHO.. especially with Crossfire scaling so well (as long as the game supports it, as there are a few new ones that still don't scale with CF). Perhaps NV could do 675MHz or even 700MHz, but it's a matter of power consumption and cooling limits on a single card. Also, for AMD to do 800MHz, it means that it'd be a new high for AMD too, past the 4870X2, let alone 5970.

My official guess? since the AMd cards might be delayed is a gtx590 and a mid range card that is faster then the 6850 but slower then the 6870 for about 189$. gtx560 se anyone?

edit: and release date? The first week of March around the 7th or 8th.

edit: Keysplayer is selling his gtx570, I would assume to make room for the mystery card. :good:

Could it be that NV is secretly releasing a GTX 565 (where nothing is castrated with full 512sp and 1.5GB, but running at slower 600MHz core)? Remember GF4 Ti 4200, how it was such a bang-for-the-buck?

Or am I dreaming on like an idiot?? :dizzy:

i dunno.

Think of something benefiting a company's bottom before you think of something being released for an enthusiast's benefit; and what will be released next is obvious - for both AMD and Nvidia.

However, it is their timing that has really surprised me. i will go into more (some) detail later on.

There is a GTX550 listed in retail in Europe.... This is the one that will barely beat a 5770.

I sure hope Nvidia don't leave a massive performance gap between this card and a gtx560 1gb ti, this is where they need a gtx560 SE version.

As to the "X", i could definitely be wrong. Since there is no 450 GTX, that was my own opinion. i just couldn't update you guys as i am already treading in NDA-territory (lightly, i hope :P ).

The supposed launch date of an upcoming product has been changed already once and it now coincides more closely with another product launch by another company.

Hence my comments of "what a mess"

I find it hard to believe Nvidia is going to release the gtx550 @ 5830 performance (just a good guess) and have no cards between a gtx550 and gtx560 ti. There must be a gtx560 SE comming with specs similar to a gtx460. With the current trend of Nvidia filling in the gaps left by AMD, I fully expect a gtx560 SE to fit snuggly in between a 6850 and 6870 for about $189.

I don't see this gtx550 being 200$ like some of the rumors I've been hearing. This card with its current specs is not worth more than 150$.

This is what expect by summer time, in order of performance.

gtx595/6990
Some type of dual mid range card like a gtx560 x2 and 6870 x2, something like a 4850x2 made by specific venders like EVGA (gtx560 x2) and Sapphire (6870 x2)
gtx580
6970
gtx570
6950
gtx560 ti
6870
gtx560 SE (rebaged gtx460 with higher clocks)
6850
gtx550
5770
gts540 ( rebaged gts450 with higher clocks)
5750

Thoughts Apoppin?

EDit: here is a little preview of the 6990.............
