i'm sorry, i don't get it

what is AMD going to be angry about?

i revealed nothing further than HardOCP which also admitted they have a HD 6990
- i just pointed out that i am waiting for Godo .. drivers
:hello:

AND *while* i am waiting for the Arrival, i have been quite busy and productive:
- Dave's first HW review at ABT is up tonight.
- Andy's report from the GDC is published today
- BoFox first game review is about to get published tonight or tomorrow.
:good:

And i am benching with cat 11-2 using HD 6970 CF right now. i will use "archived" drivers if necessary

It depends what it is. AMD clearly wants to do "teasers" on their new card. i just can't say anything about the performance - or give details in the slides or press deck

And with some launches, they don't want you to say *anything*

Can anyone guess what the other card is?

whats the take on the cooling fan in the middle? Looks funny but i bet it serves the purpose well. I mean 450W....its all in the cooling design. It must be beneficial somehow

That fan will function in a push/pull configuration. The air will be pulled across one and pushed across the other one and out the case. Minimalist, but it should work effectively. :)

The fan looks like a regular centrifugal fan to me. It's not like the strange-shaped centrifugal fan on the X850XT --> X1900XTX series that pulls the air in from the other side and blows it out the rear. It was great for the X850XT, ok for X1800XT, but way too noisy for a ~380mm^2 X1900XTX that ate up to 200W, almost just as much as an 8800GTX.

All a centrifugal fan (the common one found on the rest of video cards out there) could do is suck the air from within and blow it out sideways in all directions.

Look at the shroud; it seems to indicate airflow
 ... with only 1 DVI connector from the pics, it looks like it will have a good exhaust

I will. That deal might have been Canada-only though (for once!).
