Bullshit, I've NEVER praised AMD's PR ratings scheme and you haven't quoted me doing so.

I should be able to buy A P4, XP3200+ A643200+ (s939 or 754) and they should all perform roughly the same, the only difference being the platform they run on. Otherwise the rating means nothing. From the same thread as the link you are trying to twist beyond recognition was pulled .................

Agreed .. you never *praised* AMD PR ratings - that never was an issue .. however, back in '05 you were still defending AMD and their CPUs were ALL you ever used for your own systems and for your customers. --Congratulations. 6 years later you got yourself a nice, really fast CPU to match the rest of your system

Back then the AMD CPU's were worth buying, In large part because they ran on the best consumer chipset ever - the nForce.
Current AMD systems are NOT worth buying at any price, and I only purchased the Phenom II's because I already had the nForce 780a SLI board.

It really surprised me that you stuck with AMD for so long and then changed to Intel the Spring before BD comes out. But then i guess you figured that ATi had completely poisoned the company according to your posts. i guess the real AMD fans are still waiting for Zambesi. i am hoping for competition's sake that it is decent.

I stuck with AMD for as long as my nForce boards could accomadate new CPU's that provide good performance. BullDozer despite fitting into AM3 sockets won't support DDR2 memory and my nForce boards use DDR2. I could get a new nForce board that takes DDR3 (yes there is one and it even claims to be AM3+ compatible from ASUS), but that would be a foolish waste of money at this point, and from the benches leaking out, I'd be nowhere near the performance the 2600K offers me at a very reasonable price tag.
Back when I first migrated to PC, I was very pissed off with Intel & Microsoft for what I saw as them destroying alternative computer systems. I'd have quite happily stuck with Amiga's at the time if it were possible to, but intel was wiping out alternative CPU architectures and Microsoft was getting all the good applications written for it. So when I went PC I chose any CPU maker but intel and started on DR-DOS.
EDIT: The DDR3, AM3+ nForce board I mentioned above can't be found on the ASUS website anymore. It likely never went into production.

I agree 100% that the rating system became worthless overtime, but in the beginning it was as great idea. One of the reasons it fell apart was the fact that they where the only ones who were doing it, if no one else was then why bother? why pay a with a third party for a rating? Another reason....marketing multicore CPUs.
whats interesting is the fact that intel eventually `started using naming schemes that resembled the rating system that AMD started. Intel by then was untouchable by amd but their timing into the kinda naming amd was using was by itself interesting. Sadly there was never an agreed upon naming scheme or method that was performance based but grstanford contesting that AMD didnt try for it is just wrong!

It was doomed to fail from the beginning. We realized when it was first implemented that AMD would be the only ones doing it.

well i traded my 1100t for a 3800+ the other day and i think my computer is actually running slower??????
Whats wrong, do you think i got the CPU cooler on correctly? Maybe its my PSU?
Whats funny is you could actually have a motherboard that can go from an 1100t to a 3800+. Its gonna be sad to see AMD go through so many upcoming sockets. AM2+ was great to many.

i think it was the original Phenom that started many fans getting sour on AMD CPUs. - they will accept a MB change out for significantly better performance and they weren't getting it.
