Einstein's theory does not cover everything. It is due for a major rethinking - that the speed of light is variable and is not an absolute (in a vacuum). The scientific and educated people no that long ago were quite certain that the earth was the center of the universe and they had great mathematics and ability to observe. If you speak in absolutes, you deserve what you get

Quote: The scientific and educated people no that long ago were quite certain that the earth was the center of the universe and they had great mathematics and ability to observe. But their mathematics and observing ability didn't change the world, because, their theories didn't work in practice. That is the big test in science. You can have the nicest theory ever, but if it doesn't work in the real world it isn't worth the paper it is written on.

Again, Einstein's theory does not cover everything that we observe. It is not 100%. He was aware of its inadequacies and was pursuing the Theory of Everything.

I'll quote myself from earlier in the thread. Quote: It might not be a perfect theory and it might not be 100% correct, but it is pretty damn close (way closer than any theory before it and a few after it), and the evidence for that is all around you. Sure the theory can be improved, but it is hardly useless or wrong as it currently stands.

Well, it is going to have to allow for faster than light.

It does allow for faster than light. Einstein theorized about atoms. The physicists are continually finding smaller components of matter. The fact that these absolutely tiny neutrinos can go so fast does not change the fact that there still is a speed limit for atoms. Everything is made of atoms, not neutrinos. They're probably 1% of the size of an atom; perhaps even smaller.
This does not make Einstein wrong. The people stating such do not know anything about physics. If anything, this builds upon relativity.

ALL BS I have been transfered at the speed of light. Remember newbies: "The angle of the dangle is always in direct porportion to the heat of the MEAT". Imagine this world without GRAVITY! Now that would really SUCK.... I should not say anything, but the universe will stop expanding in the very near future and will start contracting back toward the beginning of time.... bon voyage

Einstein has light at a constant 186,000 miles/sec. Space and time may bend but light's speed remains constant throughout the universe.
However, we know sound waves can travel faster than light (not matter, according to Einstein), and the only way to properly explain the Big Bang Theory is by a variable speed of light; that it was faster at the beginning of the universe.

The big bang theory does not require a variable speed of light.
