I'm trying to find a good 6950 2gb (not looking at Nvidia right now) at reasonable prices. As of now, I've pretty much settled on this one. It comes with two free games (even though I've heard getting Dirt 3 is a headache and I own Deus Ex), plus I can get $5 off : http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=AT-6950_3RI could just wait for Southern Isles, but since I game at 1920x1080, I reckon this card should be more than adequate.

I'd go for a 1 GB model personally. I've been using a 1 GB card for quite a while now, in 1920x1080, and am not under the impression that 2 GB would add any tangible benefits.

It's only like 10-20 bucks more, plus some of these newer titles seem to be bitchy (I'm looking at you Battlefield 3) about vid ram. Then there's the two free games. You know of any good deals on 1gb cards that don't have sucky coolers/fans (XFX)?

If so, good deal Here is a 1GB version from Amazon.com with a $30 MiR that brings the final price to $210 - but it has the cooler you don't like http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-6950-V ... 834&sr=1-3

I'll take Dirt 3, though it may be a headache to get it. I can get that XFX $180+shipping (with transferable warranty) used, if I wanted. But I've heard extremely negative press on that cooler. Newegg also has the same deal for the XFX, plus it comes with Dirt 3 and is $209 after MIR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150523The Sapphire will be $30 more AR.

I was actually interested in that one, till I saw its size (11.4 inches). I'll keep an eye on it though. It'll be 20 bucks cheaper.

Seriously, is there room in your case? The one you picked is decent for a 2GB model. And the Gigabyte 6950 looks like great bang for buck in a 1GB model.

Well, the HIS 5830 I'm using is already pushing it at 10.6 inches; however, the connectors seem to be on the side for the 6950 cards, not the front like the 5830. But you guys seriously think there is no benefit in getting a 2gb card, particularly if I plan on keeping it for 2 years (tops)?

If you stay at 1920x1080 and don't go Eyefinity, you should be fine with 1GB
If you are nervous about upcoming games in the next two years - or think you might upgrade your display(s) - then buy the vRAM "insurance"
