AMD's newest platform arrived ***AFTER*** (long after) nvidia was forced out, and I wouldn't piss on an AMD (ATi) chipset if it were on fire.

AM3+ is a pretty nice platform - once i got a working one --i can run (and will run) QuadFire as soon as i get my power supply situation sorted out - i hate to use 3 PSUs to power 1 PC The FX-8150 at 4.4GHz is a power-hungry beast (not to mention 3xHD 6970) - i had to switch out using two 775W PSUs to 1-775W and 1-850W to make it all completely stable

775 x2 + 850 = 2400W. That is as much as one wall outlet can safely deliver in Australia. I don't think they make PSU's larger than 1500W anyway, which should tell you just how ridiculous your AM3+ test platform is.

QuadSLI would be just as power hungry - and i have seen 2,000W PSUs .. just for this reason
it would not be much different with Core-i7, if i could get it up to 4.4GHz

apoppin wrote: That's kind of strange because in Wolfenstein and other OpenGL games, AMD's performance is much higher than Nvidia's. Other reviewers have noted it besides myself. Wolfenstein is built on the Doom 3 engine (ID Tech 4). In fact, you'll be hard-pressed to find any 'modern' OpenGL game that isn't based on the Doom 3 engine.

i'd wait perhaps New cards coming out from Nvidia .. i am sure AMD will respond - one way or another http://vr-zone.com/articles/nvidia-prep ... 13805.htmlQuote: NVIDIA is preparing an upgrade for the popular GeForce GTX 560 Ti. Much like the GeForce GTX 260 was upgraded to GTX 260 (216 Core) in 2008, the GTX 560 Ti is set to be revised as GTX 560 Ti (448 Core). Despite the branding, the GTX 560 Ti (448 Core) has much more in common with GTX 570 than the vanilla GTX 560 Ti.

It has a warranty. Another guy has a 1gb for 170 shipped. Not sure if it has a warranty, will ask.
