apoppin wrote: It just arrived; it should have arrived last week as it got delivered to the wrong address (FedEx). Sapphire HD 7770 GHz edition. i'll get on benching it today. There is no way i can publish however (due to the site's issues). And i will be gone for a few days this week out of town. Anyway, it's ABT's first look at AMD's little 28nm GPU. i'll give it the full benchmark suite. What cards do you want to see it benched against? ---- GTX 560 Ti ? HD 6870? HD 6770? LMK pls A gtx550 as well, if you have that.

Actually, i just benched a GTX 550 Ti for my performance analysis i'll include the results but i thought it was a bit weak to compare with HD 7770

how bout the gtx560 (non ti version). Similar prices would make for a good comparision.

well then, underclock your GTX 560 Ti. The only difference is clock speed.

One of the tweaking tools should let you shut down an SM, surely?

Someone would cry foul -- no faux GTX 560s ... Do we really want to see GTX 550 Ti? Why? Frankly, i want to start fresh with my i7-920 at 4.2GHz - about the performance of a 2600/2700K

I don't see how they could cry foul. If it's clocked the same and is masked to the same number of SM's then it effectively *IS* a GTX 560 for all intents and purposes. I know both Tech-Report and Anandtech use "simulated" models of cards and CPU's at times.

Frankly, i want to start fresh with my i7-920 at 4.2GHz - about the performance of a 2600/2700K I'm already all cynical about the 550 Ti performance (see: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=21797&view=unread#p59879 ) , so unless you want to try to research into this issue, the 550 Ti hardly has any merit in my books (being more unplayable than GTS 450 despite higher frame rates). Also, I was thinking that i7 2600K = i7-920 @ 3.9 GHz and i7 2700K = i7 920 @ 4.0 GHz (multiplying the Nehalem by 15%, if that's about how much faster SB's IPC is for the most CPU-demanding games like Civ 5, SC2, Skyrim...)
