The two-piece design is a good idea. i though it might vibrate, but there were no such issues - i would however, like the option to change out the fans. i'd love to stick the Noctua fans in to replace Thermaltake's in the OCK

Quote: As important as saving money on hardware is, this editor believes that the choice of a CPU cooler is critical to any PC build. The cooler should never be cheap or retail. Too much depends on it if you value keeping your CPU cool or especially if you plan to overclock That does make it clear. Choice of a CPU cooler IS critical to ANY PC build. And in some cases you can choose the retail cooler without any issues whatsoever. But you said "The cooler should never be cheap or retail."! I'll leave you alone on the issue for awhile, before this topic causes my modem to blow up with all the images.

You should be on the second page by now and there are no images to load Sure you can emphasize whatever you like. The fact is, i am addressing O/C'ers when i say. Quote: "The cooler should never be cheap or retail." Do you find anything wrong or incongruous or even ironic about my statement in view of its context?

"any PC build" would appear to take in more than just overclockers to me, and even if, in the unlikely event that the stock intel cooler could cool as well as a non-stock cooler, it makes WAY too much noise doing so. I can barely tolerate the fan noise on my Thermaltake A1 AMD cooler and it has a quiet 80mm fan on it. You can't hear the Hyper 212+ doing its job, and nobody wants a noisy PC (I'm no noise princess either).

i take it you like my statement i won't defend it any further ... it is aimed at OverClockers, but i guess that it is good advice for any DiY build. A quality aftermarket cooler is quieter and more efficient than the retail cooler (which IS cheap)

I like the new massive heatsinks that are available because they let you hit high overclocks and you can get them to run dead silent. They can't get much bigger, though.

Oh, and my broadband is back, now as ADSL 2+.

It is very nice, much better than 512/128! and the plan is cheaper too.
