It's a sign of the times when Sapphire manufactures intel motherboards and puts intel CPU's into their systems given how close to ATi Sapphire has always been.

Especially amusing in light of Rory Read's comments in the other thread. If he can't even keep the closest of his AIB partners from using intel instead of AMD in their PC's what hope has AMD got in the laptop market?

And to answer your question. AMD's APU has a chance in the notebook market. There is a need they might be able to fill if they can get their marketing in the right direction.

I was just very entertained by a major AMD partner building Intel motherboards and systems, that's all.

i was rather personally pleased by AMD's No. 1 partner sending ABT their products and news now.

And Kingston, Cooler Master, Lian Li, and Intel all contributed to the Sapphire PC.
-- FX-8150 would have been an interesting choice for CPU. Sapphire makes AMD motherboards as well as Intel MBs; so they are also partners with Intel.

That's good news for you and along with diversifying their product lines to include intel shows the satellite companies are not quite as brain-dead as the AMD mothership.

As for those notebooks you mentioned, I set one up just last night actually for a clients son. was a Toshiba brand with Windows 7 Basic on it. No idea what APU was inside it. Thing is, the notebook was given to the client as a throw-in with their new Samsung mobile phone. Nobody that I know of actually goes out and purchases these things standalone, they are toss-ins for other products.

Evidently AMD's APU is selling. If it was marketed better, it can be an alternative to Intel on price also.
